i got a treo 700p the other day and i want to make it work as a remote

anyone know of some free software for that?

im not paying another dime towards a damn cellphone

The infared device on the phone isn't strong enough to reach the normal distance a remote would. You will need an extra device that plugs into the SD slot with a stronger infared.
