i just bought my 360 so i'm pretty green on this stuff. I use my pc to watch tv and i have my DVR (TWC-issued SA Explorer 8300) hooked up to my tv tuner card through MCE. the dvr has composite inputs on the front so i figured i could just hook the 360 up to it through there. i tried that, but i can't figure out how to switch to aux or whatever so i can play the xbox. i pressed the Select button on the dvr but it doesn't change anything. am i missing something? 9/16/2006 2:49:22 PM |

The user guide, doesn't mention how to switch inputs. I also couldn't figure it out on my 8300. I wouldn't be surprised if that's something that TW disables.
Either way, it really sounds like a bad way to display the 360. Through a cable box and then through a tv tuner card. If you are planning on displaying it on a computer monitor, I'd get the VGA cable for the xbox and hook it up directly. Your picture will be tons better that way. 9/16/2006 5:03:17 PM |

yeah, you gotta either go straight into a tv or straight into a computer lcd... 9/16/2006 5:30:21 PM |

well, no. you don't have to do that. There's just lots of possibility for picture degradation if you go through multiple devices like that. If the inputs on the front of the DVR box worked like they're supposed to, what he is trying to do would work. It just wouldn't look as good as going directly to the tv/monitor. 9/16/2006 6:54:54 PM |

You can get a component switch box. 9/16/2006 7:37:56 PM |

From the original post, it doesn't sound like component was even in the mix to begin with. That was going to be my first suggestion as well. 9/16/2006 8:02:17 PM |

actually, mine is http://www.scientificatlanta.com/ExplorerClubGuides/getting_started/4003987.pdf and i just saw that it says the composite inputs are reserved for future use. so i ended up buying the vga adapter, which is way better than running it through the tuner card (1s+ delays in pressing buttons to visual response ) but now i have to either buy a kvm switch or manually switch out the monitor from pc to xbox whenever i change what i want to use. lame. and no, i don't have component right now - i might just end up buying a new tv or something rather than use my 19" monitor.

install Vista...the first time i turned on my xbox360 after having vista installed...a message popped up on my screen saying my xbox360 has been found on the network and is now being configured to work with Media Center. 9/17/2006 2:38:34 AM |
