J/k. I don't know about tents, but I slept in a Northface sleeping bag once and it was superb.

What size are you looking at and how light do you need it to be. Will you be hiking in to camp, or driving to your spot?

I won't be doing any hiking with the tent so weight doesn't matter, only need it for 2 people, it will be in the mountains, and I would like it to be good enough quality that it will last for years even if it is 2 years between each use

^ As far as TWW goes no advice from you will be taken by me

Go to Sams.

I was at the one in wilmington this weekend, and there was an amazing deal on a Colmen (awesome tents) Probably a 2 hundred dollar tent for 80. If I had the money I would have bought two.

Coleman tents kinda suck as far as tents go. I mean, they sell them at WalMart.

if its just for occasional light use any tent will work fine

just remember to set it up and waterproof everything before using it

Ive got a nice 2-man tent by Quest. I've used it several times, even in some decent rain, and havent had any problems at all. Actually woke up in the morning without much dampness from rain/dew at all. I believe it was a little over $100 from Dicks.

North Face is way overpriced, and Kelty's so-so quality-wise.

Sierra Designs, MSR, Marmot, and Mountain Hardware are solid tents that will actually protect you from most of what nature can throw at you. I wouldn't trust a Walmart tent in a steady rain, let alone the wind/snow/heavy rain you might experience in the mountains.

You'd better buy extra waterproofing

I have a Half Dome 2 from REI and I love it. Cost about $150. It's easy to put up, and the rain fly has a nice vestibule so you can leave your shoes outside the tent. Although I think a 2-man tent isn't really large enough for two people. But if you're leaving your stuff in the car you should be fine

^^ The Half Dome Plus 2 is an excellent tent. I also have one and it has withstood wind gusts over 40mph no problem. It's very durable, lightweight, and easy to set up.

Yeah, my 3 person tent only sleeps 2 people comfortably. Keep that in mind while deciding.

I like Kelty and Eureka, but you just have to be sure to take care of it if you'd like it to last for a long time. The biggest thing is storing it in an air-conditioned space so it doesn't get overheated and the waterproof coating get messed up.

I've got a coleman that was $60 for a tent tall enough for me to stand up in.

It's good in the rain (haven't gotten wet in it).

My only complaint is that the bag that it comes in sucks ass and I never have enough patience to perfectly fold and pack the tent back into that small bag.

Oh, and the last coleman I had dryrotted in 3 years. My brother's dryrotted at 4 years (the elastic in the fiberglass support poles dried out and broke, so the poles were useless, wouldn't hold together long enough to put up the tent).

another big thing is to dry it properly after returning from a damp trip

^ Yeah, the one I had that dryrotted was covered in cat piss, so I didn't care to touch it at all, aired it out a while later and it lasted 2 more trips before falling to pieces.

My brother's was maintained though... He used it a lot more than I use my tents, though...

ive had it for 6-7 years, its still in great shape, and when it rains, and everyone elses tent leaks, mine stays dry.
