As college students we usually do not have the resources necessary to go to a lot of Hurricanes games. So just a quick question, what should be done (in your opinion) to make it easier for college students to come out more and support our Canes? 9/20/2006 2:29:53 PM |

^they do plenty for college students
will be a lot of excitement around the team this year, and they have sold plenty of tickets...so don't expect any new help for students, but the discount that they currently give is more than generous....and I am not sure of too many teams that are as competitve as the canes that do something similar....so enjoy what you have! 9/20/2006 2:33:53 PM |

If you can't afford $10, there's not much else they can do. That's only a tiny bit more than you'll pay for a Bulls game (not counting the gas to Durham), but the Canes have a 38 million dollar payroll.

I agree 100%, I actually work for the hurricanes as an Intern and part of my job is to try and tap a little bit more into the college scene. So any and all idea's is greatly appreciated. 9/20/2006 2:38:23 PM |

Maybe one thing you can look into is working with the Wolfline to provide transportation of students to and from the game. For underclassmen w/out cars the easier you make it for them to attend, the more likely it is that they will. And, part of hockey is the beer, so for the 21+ crowd the buses are a great way to provide a DD 9/20/2006 3:06:24 PM |

I guess the only thing I could suggest then is maybe a few more "college nights" during midweek SE games or Western Conference games that would provide a ticket and two beers for a discount or something like that. As it stands, between the $10.29 tickets and the student rush discount, giving students options for tickets is pretty well covered. 9/20/2006 3:15:44 PM |

Western conference games i think are so rare (5 per year) that they would have too high a demand for discount nights
But since we play Washington, ATL, tampa bay and florida 4 times per year each at RBC, some of those matchups could have a special deal thrown in
Lots of MLB teams do some kind of deal when its a midweek series vs some shitty team like the pirates or royals 9/20/2006 3:45:02 PM |

^ The demand is high against teams like Detroit and Colorado, but Phoenix and San Jose are probably less popular than Atlanta or Florida. There was a great game once against San Jose where Big Joe got a natural hat trick and Jesse won two fights but there were less than 9,000 people there. 9/20/2006 3:59:22 PM |
