Dish network is coming out Wednesday to install the dish. Is there anything I should make sure the installer does/doesn't do? Like make sure they don't drill through my siding... I'm already having them install it on a metal pole instead of the roof mount.

^ It's going to be sitting behind a bush so it can't be seen from the street.

There are many things on the outside of a house that aren't pretty to look at such as your condensing unit, furnace vents, phone box, kWH meter, and in my case a green transformer. Don't hate on me because I don't want to pay TWC any more $ for complete shit.

1. The Cable modems were always dropping in/out which hasn't happened to me yet with DSL.

2. The price is a rip off in any comparison.

3. Standard cable has several channels that are fuzzy and none of them are very clear.

4. I've had digital cable before and there is no way anything can pixelate more than that.

5. When cable goes out it stays out for hours.

If the satellite sucks I can always switch back and hand my balls over to TWC.

If satellite goes out during storms then you probably shouldn't be watching TV anyway. Most people I've talked to are happier with satellite.

I'm happy with satellite, although I can't say I care for the Dish Network's customer service. When I lived in Raleigh, I had TWC, and aside from the $80-$90 bill, I didn't have a problem with their service. The only major outages I had were during the ice storms and the hurricane that came through in 2003.

With DirecTV, I don't have any major outages at all, even when it's storming. Sometimes though, when it storms, maybe once or twice the signal will pixelate for about 2 or 3 seconds, and then be perfect. It isn't anything I'm concerned about.

I had mine mounted on the backside corner of the house, and with the pitch of the roof, its only visible from the backyard. Can't be seen from the front. And by the way, my Camaro is covered up, and NOT on blocks, thank you very much.

We didn't have TWC in my small town, just fucking Cox Communications, who also has no cable internet in my area. They were overpriced and the quality was UTTER shit. Much worse than TWC.

BTW I love the fact my local phone service, DSL, and satellite is about $95/month, so I can't complain.

DirectTV >>>>> TWC

they at least broadcast ESPN2 HD so you can watch the world cup in full HD

they also broadcast all the AC Milan games and all the Italia Series A games. along witht he Spanish and German leagues. Also UEFA Champions league.

Make sure that they go ahead and run the cable to 4 rooms in the house (assuming thats what you are getting) even if you dont plan on having a tv for all 4 rooms. They will do it for free on this initial run, but if you ever want to have cable run in another room, they will charge $50 to come back out and run it.

if you dont like the cost of twc, all you have to do is call them up and ask for their retention department. tell them that you will switch to satellite if they can't give you a lower price. you can get digital cable with a dvr for $50 a month and road runner for $30.
