Copy and burn dvd's? No it won't.
As far as burning and copying goes, I reccomend nero+dvdshrink. Nero isn't free, but a lot of people manage to get it for free. 9/26/2006 8:49:25 PM |

I wouldn't have been overly suprised to find that WMP could burn video dvds while XP can't burn data dvd's like it can data cd's. 9/26/2006 9:09:00 PM |

^^^ fwiw, i wouldn't exactly expect a "media" player to burn data discs anyhow.
as for the original question, Prospero's link will take you far, find an app that works for you ... and don't forget there's open-source options too (scroll to bottom for video/dvd software): http://www.econsultant.com/i-want-open-source-software/index.html

i think i'll just jump on Charybdisjim's suggestion, just use DVDShrink, it'll copy/burn your dvd's to .iso's then you can view those dvd's by mounting the image(s) or burn it to a DVD-R and watch it in a DVD player
here's a link: http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html
and you can get an OEM copy of Nero here ($3.99 shipped): http://www.surpluscomputers.com/store/main.aspx?p=ItemDetail&item=SWW12281
or Nero 7 ($5.99 shipped): http://www.surpluscomputers.com/store/main.aspx?p=ItemDetail&item=SWW13452

I never thought or expected it to smart guy. The fact that XP can't burn data dvd's made it seem fairly unlikely that WMP could burn dvd video discs.9/26/2006 9:33:02 PM |

whoops, retract my comment then, i thought you typed "mp" not "xp" ... my bad. your comment makes more sense.
anyway, it wasn't an insult or snide remark to begin with. i don't make sideways comments without mentioning that i'm doing so or in very obvious cases. subtle humor generally doesn't work right when typing unless you know them personally. 9/26/2006 9:41:36 PM |
