a season to "get the proper credit" for being the #1 pick. they were discussing if mario is having a better season than bush.
who the fuck has averaged 20 sacks a season in the history of the nfl????? i literally choked on my drink when i heard him say this. i normally like jaws alot, but that was a ridiculous statement

the point was that there is no way in hell it can be justified.
I love Mario, but damn, worse case scenario happened to the Texans.
They would have been so much better with Bush than Williams.
Thats a fact. 10/2/2006 5:50:01 PM |

reggie white averaged like 15 a season, if you don't count the 3 years or so he spent in canada or the other football leage, or whatever.
^ no it's not. reggie would be doing worse in houston than new orleans.

Clearly the Texans would be undefeated now with Bush.
Even if Bush dies from coke overdose in 2 weeks and Mario paralyzes peyton manning in the next game, they still would have been better off taking Reggie, because the fans would be happy.

Jaws is dumb...yesterday he said the last team to be undefeated in the league would be the bears but then later in the show picked the seahawks to beat the bears 10/2/2006 6:31:35 PM |

yeah i thought strahan's 'record' was 21.5 or so - and that's a loose term since brett favre fell down for him in the giants game against green bay
jaws is an offensive guy - in his mind, a defensive player has to have ridiculous numbers to offset a back's 'better than average' numbers 10/2/2006 8:20:52 PM |

Was he really trying to make that crazy statement because he believes that? The way it sounds, he was saying that in order for people to feel that picking Mario #1 overall was justified, he'd have to have 20 sacks average a year for his career. It doesnt sound like he thinks it should be so. 10/2/2006 8:26:34 PM |

i didnt see him say it, so i don't know the context
but if that's the case, apparently the majority of fans also value offensive prowess way more than the defensive variety
maybe because when an offensive 'playmaker' has the ball, it's more of a one-on-eleven aspect
it's more of, "Look at LT make those guys miss!" than "Look at that great pull the O-line just had"
i just digressed completely 10/2/2006 8:32:19 PM |

I think the texans should have tried to build an offense first, defense later. Thats how it usually works. Gives the guys on defense something to fight for. Plus offensive productivity can be guage faster/easier than defensive! 10/2/2006 8:38:15 PM |

it's a good thing rally didnt hear what jaws had to say about Vick in his next sentence. or we might have had a thread bout that as well :X

Well they have playmakers in every offensive position except the line.
If they wanted offense they should have traded the pick to the Jets to get D'Brick 4th and a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Assuming the Jets wanted to make that trade.10/2/2006 8:43:42 PM |

he was voicing his personal opinion. he was saying that he feels mario needs to average 20 sacks a season to justify him being #1 over reggie. before he made this statement he said this about reggie, "he is the real #1 pick."

Reggie has not done anything worthy of the #1 pick either. He may have more stats racked up than Mario right now since he gets the ball in his hands, but to argue that he's been #1 worthy so far is stupid.
If Mario flops as the #1 pick it wont be the first time its happened. I dont know why they're saying he will fail before he has a chance to prove himself though. Its really not fair. 10/2/2006 9:49:04 PM |
