why?
-balance we have everything you could ask for right now. the oline is playing decent the qb is making throws the a full complement of skilled players is what really sets it off. not only do we have balnce in that we have run and pass but we have balance within each aspect. each type of player.
we have our tall wr a big play wr a possession wr a jumping wr and 2 speed wrs
we have 2 really great backs i dont need to explain and eugene which provide a variety.
-competition- bcs d was good but the fsu defense we went up against tonight is one of the best in the nation. when you have this type of balance it is hard to stop you.
-strategy- this is the tricky/contraversial thing. because we have a really good defense our playcalling is very conservative at times and trestman usually won't try to score unless we're losing. this is why we wont be able to blow teams out with our offense because we play to hold onto leads instead of build them. we have 2 more good ds on our plate and thats it gt and clemson. the best other team in the acc.
-mobility-daniel evans can move to buy time. our oline has shown nice speed while pulling to make blocks against these fast defenses. mobility buys time and time buys even more balance because it puts pressure on the d to make a commitment.
also cheer on wake saturday to give clemson their 2nd loss so we could lose to clemson and still be ahead of them.

First off, the O-line is not very good. That should be obvious to anyone who has been watching this season.
HOWEVER, we have great playmakers at the skill positions. Holy shit, Geron James can catch. I don't know who is better against single coverage, him or Dunlap. Either way, the odds are in our favor whenever Evans throws up a jump-ball.
We all knew what Brown and Baker could do with some running room, and they continue to impress when they are not getting hit in the backfield.
Anthony Hill is very good when he isn't forced to make a tough reception. His hands aren't great, but once he has the ball, he is a beast to bring down.
Jamelle Eugene is really fucking fast. He needs to touch the ball 5 times a game.
We are still a little too conservative with Evans. He is hitting his passes when we ask him to. Lets throw some more on first and second down, instead of making him throw on 3rd and long all the time. 10/6/2006 4:05:27 AM |
