actually, i have an Orion 800.4 that has two blown resistors right now that i have to replace and it's been used to nothing but full-range 4-channel operation.

You can smoke an amp at all frequency ranges. It's just that people can tolerate big time bass better than they can ear splitting highs.

Besides, your statement was a bit of a red herring, who is to say a 4 channel amp is meant to be full range only?

I've got a 4 channel in my ride that drive a sub on 2 of the channels and some rear fills on the other 2.
