It's not a bad setup and I had a good time when I went, but it takes FOREVER to get a drink on a busy night. I mean like 20-30 minutes waiting in line at the bar... It really pissed me off.

Monday Night Football is ok there though, 1.50 bud bottles & free pizza :-D...plus if you guess the final score you get a couple hundred bucks. And not too many people show up.


When I went it was funny because the DJ was playing Wu Tang and crap and it was all white people except for like 4 black guys right next to the speakers dancing to the Wu Tang... it was amusing.

When it was maanjri lounge (or whatever) my friends were overcharged a $600 bar tab and refused to settled the dispute peacefully. The bouncers bashed a guest's head into a table and he had to get stitches.

But I had an awesome time there prior to all the shenanigans.

IMO thats why maanjri lounge failed. I dont know how fucking stupid the owners are to be running a BAR which makes its profits off of ALCOHOL SALES and letting the bar get so backed up no one bothers trying to get a drink.

The bar is understaffed and poorly setup for efficient service. You can go in PB's and wait less than 5 minutes for a drink when the crowd is twice as huge. Someone is fucking up managing maanjri/pi bar.

This venture will fail as well if they dont get their shit together. You will not see my ass paying a cover to get in there ever again until I hear that the bar is faster.

is this a joke?!?! where do you think most bars make their $$$. any bar that offers food does so for legality reasons and for buisness during non peak drinking times. A venue has to have at least 50% sales as food otherwise it has to be a "members-only" club. This is why technically you have to be a memeber of The Goat in order to drink there.

and btw if the bar is backed up then they are obviously making money since the demand for resources in this case alcohol exceeds the supply of service.

I go there on thursdays. dollar beer night. 3 dollar cover and its packed by midnight. overall the place is kind of dirty but its a happening place right next to campus. the service is absolutely terrible. ive been there and seen only 2 bartenders and 30 people waiting for drinks and i talked to some guys and they told me it has been that way for over six months. just ridiculous. save yourself a trip and just buy two beers at once.

All it means is that there are more than likely 5 fat chicks sitting at the bar, taking up an incredible amount of space, hoping and praying that some guy will be drunk enough when he buys his next round to include them in it.

I'm not sure thats even accurate. From what I heard from a guy who worked there, its the same management as before. they wanted to move Maanjri to a location on Glennwood because the clientelle is a better match for what they were going for. i don't know if that ever happened though.

That is the same thing I heard/read, but bottom line is that it does not matter where you locate a bar or club its not gonna make money if no one can get drinks.

People go out to bars and clubs to socialize and shit, no one wants to be standing at the bar for twenty minutes everytime they need another drink. Maybe the owners should install a second cash bar with beer only for busy nights or something, more than one register so the bartenders dont have to stand in line to ring shit up, or MOVE THE FUCKING REGISTER TO THE BEHIND THE BAR INSTEAD OF NEAR THE BACK WALL.

All I know is there are about 30 or more bars in Raleigh around NCSU and downtown. If pi bar wants to charge a cover they need to have their shit together.

i think they just changed the name to Pi Bar because the hookah bar down the street bought all of their hookahs. thursday nights are fun.. 3 bucks cover for dollar newcastles isn't bad. last time i went though, it was way too crowded.

so we did end up out there last night- all 29 of us for my sisters 21st bday

the bouncer at the door was cool as hell, he didnt make any birthday ppl pay admission

getting drinks at the bar was very difficult, we waited at least 15 mins or more and there were 2 bartenders! one friend actually got "kicked out" when she told the bartender "dude, you have to serve me next, i've been here for 25 mins"- he said she was being a bitch- that was the only down part of the whole night
also, the $1 drinks werent that strong (although i didnt really expect them to be), id probably stick with beer the next time around


overall, the place was OK- I would probably go back for the music and the crowd

They changed it because they wanted to appeal more to the college crowd. The name Maanjri lounge was more for their hookah/Moroccan ambiance. Since too many drunk kids were breaking the hookahs, and they weren't getting enough of a college crowd most nights, they decided to get rid of the hookahs and call it pi.

College kids all know about pi, and they do math, so I guess that's why they chose that name.
