A league needs to be established for me to dominate, whether I make it or people want one of the established ST vets to make it, we need a TWW fantasy bball league.
So who's ready to get dominated? 10/11/2006 1:36:59 PM |

Sweet, I'm in.
Weekday evening would be good for me, but I'm flexible on time at least for 2 more weeks considering my broken ankle.
What is the scoring format and max teams? 10/11/2006 1:52:35 PM |
Sleik All American 11177 Posts user info edit post |
Gauging interest before setting a max, but I guarantee no more than 12 teams.
As far as points, I'm tweaking that as we type.

Max teams is currently at 12, everything else still being worked out.
All shots made (FG/FT/3PT) Points Off. Rebounds Def. Rebounds Assists Steals Blocks Turnovers.
I hate adding extra shit like assist/turnover ratio, personal fouls, minutes... but if ya'll want it in there bad enough, let me know. 10/11/2006 1:56:54 PM |

only for points leagues.
in head-to-head, it takes you and your opponent's lineups, adds up who gets what stats, and whoever has the highest of said stat (lowest # of turnovers and fouls) wins that category for the week.
so if you have guys like Michael Redd, Ray Allen, Peja, and Dirk, you'll probably kill my ass in 3pt made, but if I counter with Chris Paul, Baron Davis, Shawn Marion, and Ben Wallace, I'll win the steals category.

is it a points based setup (1 point per point, 2 points per rebount, etc.) or a category based setup (team with most points wins that category and gets 1 point, etc.)?

well, perhaps, last year I played a points leauge and had Kobe, who was a monster. In head to head Lebron may be better. 10/11/2006 3:08:54 PM |

Friday and Saturday still have a shitload of slots open, what works.

Im not too sure I can do Friday either, might be heading up to Charlottesville that night for the game Saturday. I could do something earlier that day though for sure.
By the way, Im Frozen Banana Stand.
Ive mostly only done fantasy football, so how does the head-to-head scoring work when some players might have 3-4 games in a week while others only have 2? 10/24/2006 2:13:06 PM |

You can change your lineups daily... I don't do that once a week shit.
I'm gonna send PMs to everyone I know is in the league. Tomorrow has a shit ton of evening times left, then nothing good til Saturday way after the game. Sunday has only 8am and 9am and I'd be fucking nuts to think anybody would want that. Monday has openings up until 4pm. 10/24/2006 2:28:02 PM |

nothing can be more boring than Rotissere Fantasy Basketball.
The worst idea ever, and eleventy times worse than fantasy baseball.
If you've never played before, wait until about January...you'll be begging for that shit to end.

I just joined a Head to Head league. I played in one a couple of years ago and it's pretty much the only way I will care about the NBA regular season. I really have no idea who to draft other than the star players and have no draft strategy. All I know is that Shawn Marion is like A-Rod in terms of the multiple stats he can put up.

Quote : | "In a Rotisserie League, fantasy teams are ranked from first to last in each of several statistical categories. Points are then awarded according to the order of finish in each category and are totaled to determine an overall score and place.
So, if you are in a 12-team league, the team with the most goals scored receives 12 points, the team with the second most receives 11 points, and so on. In the case of a tie, each team involved receives an average of the total points due. So, in the above example, if two teams were tied for first in assists, each would receive 11.5 points [(12 + 11) / 2 = 11.5].
Therefore, the maximum number of points that a team can earn is equal to the number of scoring categories within a league multiplied by the number of teams in the league. Similarly, the lowest number of points that a team can earn is equal to the number of scoring categories multiplied by one, which is the lowest score that can be achieved in any category.
So, if you were playing in a league with 12 teams and 12 scoring categories, the lowest point total possible is 12 [12 * 1 = 12] and the highest is 144 [12 * 12 = 144].
Rankings within the individual scoring categories (PTS, REB, etc.) are based on the cumulative stats earned by all active players during the season and not on any individual day or game.
Therefore, the overall ranking of your team rises and falls depending on how it performs relative to the performance of other league members. So, the phenomenon of "losing points" can be explained as your rank falling in one or more of the statistical categories used in your league.
All non head-to-head Public Leagues use rotisserie scoring and the same default configuration. Custom Leagues can use rotisserie, head-to-head, or fantasy point scoring, and all are totally customizable." |

Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
where you odnt play head to head, like fantasy football.
You simply accrew stats and are given point values whenever your rank changes. You arent playing against anyone, you are just trying to get the most of each category.
For instance, if your team has a total of 300 assists and another player has 298 assists going into tonights play, lets say your team gets 10 assists that night and his gets 20. You would now have 310 and he would have 318. He would gain a point for passing you, and you would lose a point for being passed.
If you both stopped on 310, he would gain .5 points for tying, and you would lose .5 points for being tied. The next day could be the complete opposite and you basically stay where you are unless your team goes on a great run.
It goes on and on and on and on and on and on....finally ending with no playoffs.
If you get an invite for this...politely decline, immediately.
^that explains it pretty well.
