^Thx dude! Yep, an '07 cayman s w/ 13k. Pretty light in terms of options- heated/power seats sport, bi-xenons, steering wheel are the only major ones.

A few minor gripes, but in general I couldn't be happier. Amazing gearbox, steering feedback, brakes, powerband, etc. Rear hatch is a little noisy, and an aux audio input and bluetooth would have been nice for a car that stickered at 70k.

Signed up for an event with the lotus club @ thunderhill on July 13th. I'll definitely have more pictars around then!

Anyone up for a CMP event August 14th-15th with Hurricane Region PCA? I wanna go but don't feel like doing it solo.

I'm doing beaverun that weekend. I'm probly never going to line up track days with you guys unless I happen to be on one circuit on my bike while you guys are on the other in cars on the same day.

It was fantastic.

Went on stock pads and tires, and no major complaints there. I feel like I've glazed the pads over a bit, as the initial bite isn't nearly as sharp as before, so probably time for some pagids before another event.

The rotation of the car was noticeably different from every front engine rear wheel drive car I've driven. Certainly penalizes you a great deal more if you ever dare to make mid-turn and sudden throttle corrections, but is pretty rewarding when you get it right.

The OEM tire pressures induced pretty miserable understeer- 32f37r cold iirc correctly. Felt much better after dialing down the rear pressures down 6psi hot.

^nice pics! You can always tell when you're on a track in California - it's always in the desert I'm sure your car handled fantastically. I'm curious about that tire pressure though, usually higher pressure = less grip so to me its odd that you dialed out understeer with decreased rear tire pressure. But I don't have a Porsche so who knows

2 1/2 weeks till I'm putting down some laps at Carolina Motorsports Park! Getting new tires next week and track prepping the car next weekend (coolant flush & brake fluid flush). I'm going with PCA so I'm sure there will be a lot of P cars.

Anyone have any advice for some aggressive street/track pads for a 350Z? One of my friends needs new pads before we go to the track in two weeks. I know nothing about pads for a 350Z so I told him to check the Z forums. He doesn't want a set dedicated just for the track, so he's looking at aggressive street pads.

^thanks for the advice, but isn't that a track only pad? (I run XP 12/10's at the track on my S2000).

EBC Greenstuff if they make that for the 350z, since I'm all but certain that Pagid doesn't make pads for that car. Cooling would be helpful too, but mostly make sure you brake hard and for a short time, and not sustained/for too long. A lot of people new to high performance driving seem to start feathering the brakes a quarter mile before the braking zone, tell him not to do that!

^He was fine last time (at Roebling). Also I don't think his brake loading will be terribly high as he's not using high performance tires; rather Bridgestone Turanza all-season rubber.

Thanks for suggestions.

I've never had a problem daily driving on XP10/8 pads. A little extra dust and mild noise hasn't been a concern.

My experience with carbotech was very sub par, and I've never heard pads that were louder, and I run endurance race pads on the street all the time. Hawk dust is extremely corrosive. Both Hawk Blues and Carbotech XP8/10s are also very hard on rotors. Proceed with caution...

EBC or Pagid, there's not much else, especially for a Japanese car. :/

^thanks for the tip. I loved the Carbotechs at the track and S2000 owners seem to adore them. However, I will keep an eye on rotor thickness per your comment.

The event was a lot of fun! Not a huge turn out, which made for 10-15 cars per group (4 groups) which was kinda nice. The weather held out all weekend until the last two sessions when the skies opened up and it poured. CMP was fun and I look forward to my next track event, whenever that may be...

Here are a few choice pics:

I have no idea what kinda surgery you had, but damn man, let your body recover......... I feel like an old man saying that, but as I accumulate more injuries throughout the course of my life, they keep adding up. At this rate i will definitely be one of those dudes limping around at age 40....... i have been hard on my body. Take it easy, dude.

That's actually pretty good compared to Nesba's ~$300 or 2 days at VIR.

Yes, $240 for two days. Roebling Road is a pretty inexpensive track. Last time I was down there it was $195 for 2 days.

$300 for 2 days at VIR?? That's dirt cheap for that track. I really need to buy a fixed roof coupe and get my butt up there!

There's a 2 day event at CMP the following weekend for $350 I think. Which I would be game for as well but I'd prefer going to RRR.

Sorry, I should have expanded more on the VIR pricing. NESBA is for motorcycles, I don't know how that compares to most other 4 wheeled events.

Per day for NESBA (for members):
North -$195
South - $165
Patriot- $145

Buy one day, get the next day at $10 off. North Course is only run on Monday's AFAIK and South/Patriot on Sat/Sun (depending on the weekend).

If you are part of the NC Sportsbike Club and 10 people show up that day, you get a 10% credit from NESBA, which can go towards future membership fee or other track registration costs.

2 days of South (Sat/Sun event) = $165 + $155 - ($16.50 + $15.50) = $310 with $32 credit towards next event.

I do. But i live in MA so i've been doing NHMS. It's pretty fun, but no VIR of course.

I hope to do Lime Rock next year. Its 3 hours away and $500 a weekend though.

I'll also do a road trip down to do a spring VIRF event with THSCC.

I'm getting there, the M3 handled it's 1st Autocross well this past weekend. New tires, rotors, pads and brake fluid and I should be good to take it to a track day. I'm probably going to have a BMW race prep guy over in Knoxville do a once-over first though, since I'm so new to doing all this work on cars. I figure I'll be able to start looking at a HPDE in a month or so

I track my car. Been thinking about venturing away from VIR to try another track soon.

THSCC is going to CMP in october. Anyone doing that?

I will be @ vir next weekend (29/30) for a full course club day

Here is my car @ VIR from a long time ago:

I've done ~20+ track events this year, probably closer to 30+. I'd have done more if my bike didn't break and I didn't take a new job and move. I'm considering a new (to me) car that's more suited to track events than my 540i but every time I think about, I realize I'd rather be on 2 wheels.
