I just got a laptop and am looking to make some space on my desk. I have a bulky monitor on top and want to kick it to the closet, only problem is that i still want to use my desktops cpu. Is there any way i can connect my cpu up to my laptop or something that allows me to get rid of my monitor. 10/15/2006 10:05:03 PM |

You could use RDU but I wouldn't want to use it for much 10/15/2006 10:13:27 PM |

If you aren't doing anything requiring heavy graphics (i.e. Photoshop), multimedia, or real-time audio, you can setup Remote Desktop to access stuff on your desktop. Otherwise, buy/make a monitor stand and a KVM and set it up so either your desktop or laptop can you your keyboard/mouse/monitor on your desk. 10/15/2006 10:47:05 PM |

in addition, if you are looking for a simple keyboard/mouse control (ie, you have a display for each machine and only want to use one set of K/M), i'm currently using synergy http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ and it works like a champ over a network w/o requiring a hard switch. it functions like a multi-monitor setup where you move your mouse to the edge of the screen and onto the next. i use it between my desktop and laptop. 10/15/2006 11:25:45 PM |
