our nation will begin its return to greatness. The GOP has ruined our international reputation, squandered our treasury and wrecklessly led our brave troops into a debacle in Iraq.

Americans have awakened to the peril in which the GOP has placed us, and will be voting them out of power this year.

Republicans have reified Lord Acton's dire warning that "absolute power corrupts absolutely", and their party is about to be consigned to the dustbin of history.

Until the Democrats become soft and corrupt in Congress and then the Republicans or their descendents sweep them out from power. Seems to be the cyclical nature of our politics. The Republicans are on the verge of collapse, much like the Democrats in 1994.

Let's hope the Democrats get something done before the special interests get their claws into them. Afterall, K Street is already mobilizing and starting to court future Democratic power players.

Democrats won't have absolute power until they take not only Congress, but the presidency.

quick question about the GOP ruining our international reputation

Why do you incorrectly think that we had a good international reputation in the 90s?

Quote :
"The Worst Congress Ever
How our national legislature has become a stable of thieves and perverts -- in five easy steps

MATT TAIBBI

There is very little that sums up the record of the U.S. Congress in the Bush years better than a half-mad boy-addict put in charge of a federal commission on child exploitation. After all, if a hairy-necked, raincoat-clad freak like Rep. Mark Foley can get himself named co-chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, one can only wonder: What the hell else is going on in the corridors of Capitol Hill these days?

These past six years were more than just the most shameful, corrupt and incompetent period in the history of the American legislative branch. These were the years when the U.S. parliament became a historical punch line, a political obscenity on par with the court of Nero or Caligula -- a stable of thieves and perverts who committed crimes rolling out of bed in the morning and did their very best to turn the mighty American empire into a debt-laden, despotic backwater, a Burkina Faso with cable."

Oh come now, the recent Republican implosion caught our friends on K Street off guard. I imagine that all those freshmen Democratic Congressmen are going to be somewhat independent for a small window before they completely sell out.
