it's an interesting enough class, but it's a LOT of work. when i took it, we had maybe 4-6 projects overall, and i probably spent more time on them than i did on my engineering classes that semester. we also had class critiques of the projects...you presented the art to the class, described what you did and why, and the class provided feedback. so you have to be able to explain why you like or dislike the artwork.
you have to dedicate a hefty chunk of time and effort if you want to get a good grade. but grading is somewhat subjective, i felt. i couldn't convince the prof of the worthiness of some of my projects.
that said, i got a chance to do more sketching, which was nice, and i started to be able to explain why i like different art and sculpture in ways other than saying, "it's pretty." so go for it, but dont' think it'll be a cakewalk 10/20/2006 9:29:03 PM |

i took 111 and 112
i thought the work in 112 was easier and more fun than in 111
i also took it as a summer class (112) 10/22/2006 3:17:52 PM |

i thought the staff rotated for this class...so it wouldn't be the same person who taught it every semester
and i just checked spring 2006's teachers for this class...Charles Joyner taught it, and he's one of the best...you'd have a blast if he's teaching it again

I met someone else who had this class and they had the same professor so maybe a new person teaches it but I doubt it is worth taking no matter who teaches it bc it's 3 hours each tuesday and thursday and you get only 3 hr's credit when you attend class for 6hrs a week and have alot of outside work. All im sayin is it is def. not worth it. Do not take it. 10/23/2006 7:06:38 PM |
