What do you gotta say Braves Fans? I know you think your better and always rag on the phillies but not anymore. 10/22/2006 5:41:37 PM |

I'll take this one.
bwwhaahhahahahaha.. yeah right. Not only will they not finish first but they'll finish third, behind both the Braves AND the Mets. Once the league figures out to pitch around Ryan Howard who is going to step it up? Especially with Burrell being unloaded to someone for sure.
Maybe if Hamels wins 20 you have a SHOT but that isn't likely.
V nah, I've been sick.. which is why I've been on this piece of shit most of the weekend

Its almost certain the phillies will bring in some right handed bat (Manny, Soriano, Sheff, A. Ramierez, etc) that can actually hit unlike burrell and a SP or 2. So pitching around Howard could be a little tough. 10/22/2006 5:47:54 PM |

Who gives a fuck what they do to their lineup?
They may have the worst pitching staff in MLB.
They couldnt win a playoff series even if they figured out how to get there. 10/22/2006 5:49:39 PM |

Also its pretty certain that they will add 1 or 2 solid SP with the extra cash from losing heavy contracts like Burrell, Abreau, and Leiberthal. Also they one of the best bullpens in the game. 10/22/2006 5:53:54 PM |

They don't even have the best bullpen in their division and that is impossible to argue so don't try.
You guys can go after your Gil Meche or Jeff Weaver and leave the big fish like Zito and Scmidt to the real organizations.10/22/2006 5:54:59 PM |

Actually the Phillies bullpen had one of the worst (if not THE worst) ERA in major league baseball.
You are reaching.
Clearing up the $18 million that Abreu was gonna make in '07 was a good move though. You cant command $18 million if you cant even hit 18 HR. 10/22/2006 5:57:09 PM |

You dont have to be best in your division to be one of the best in the game dipshit. Like I said they have cash to spend so that they can add one or two good FA's to an already solid lineup. 10/22/2006 5:59:59 PM |

Team ERA = 3.79 3rd lowest in the NL 8th lowest in MLB, I don't think that would be considered one of the worst ERA's. There SP was horrible though and therefore the bullpen ERA would be lower.
Also, the bullpen record and ERA are misleading because they had a few guys Start as well as pitch in relief.

The Mets I am sad to say are only going to get better and how many games did they beat the Phils by this year? Hell your team barely beat out AAA Florida. 10/22/2006 11:49:16 PM |

The Mets best starting pitching is on decline (Pedro and Glavine). Don't get me wrong theyre still good and the mets have a few young guys and will probably bring in a pitcher. But as we all know you don't have to win the division to win the WS. 10/23/2006 7:09:35 AM |

The main reason the Phillies won't win is that old ass Charlie Manuel.....as long as he's around they have no shot. Hell, they'd be better off with Ted Turner managing the team 10/23/2006 10:53:54 AM |

the phillies just hired a gaggle of ex-managers to serve as coaches, charlie manuel will be gone by the all-star break
