I am suprised that there isn't a thread on this yet
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,224738,00.html
The obvious goal was to create sympathy from a source that is off-limits to criticism, thus drawing support for a dubious action. When an admittedly partisan commentator dared to question the legitimacy of the ad, the liberal drums of opposition struck up, attacking the man for daring to question a sick man, a sick man that just happened to be pushing an issue they push as being an important moral issue they are right on. It is all reminiscent of John Edward's remark in 2004 that if the Democrats are elected and push through stem cell research, then "Christophe Reeve will walk". Exploitative and wrong. This is a new low for political tactics, and to think, this wasnt even an attack ad. We can only help the truth will surface.
Another good article on this, which I'm sure you'll all blast me on and refuse to even read. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/10/25/182613.shtml?s=lh 10/25/2006 7:19:32 PM |

I don't quite understand how these arguments address the issue.
The reason why Limbaugh is getting blasted isn't because he disagrees with Fox's position, but because he claimed Fox was in some way "faking it" when it came to his symptoms. All in all, it was a needless, assholish thing to claim. 10/25/2006 7:32:05 PM |

Let the blasting begin.
Quote : | ""He is exaggerating the effects of the disease," Limbaugh told his listeners. "He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. ... This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox." |
Quote : | " Rush charged. "Michael J. Fox is using his illness as a way to mislead voters " |
Quote : | "In her best-selling book "Godless," Ann Coulter writes that Democrats have hit on an ingenious strategy: "choose only messengers whom we are not allowed to reply to . . . you can't respond to them because that would be questioning the authenticity of their suffering."" |
It could just be that they were trying to reach out to the compassionate side of conservatives we hear so much about.

It's good to know that Rush is now an expert on Parkinson's. Maybe he and Dr. Frist can start a practice together. Perhaps Dr. Limbaugh can diagnose his own fatass' obesity next. 10/25/2006 8:29:10 PM |

Michael J Fox made one for Republican Arlen Specter in 2004
Quote : | "One ad running throughout Pennsylvania features stem cell research advocate and actor Michael J. Fox praising Specter for his support of stem cell research and his role in doubling NIH funding for biomedical research." |

Every time someone links to something with Limbaugh I'm surprised by the fact that people still listen to him. You'd think I'd get used to it. 10/26/2006 2:23:26 AM |

He was faking it then, too.
In fact, Parkinson's is yet another myth created by the liberal media 10/27/2006 12:36:38 AM |

I can't stand Limbaugh, I really can't.
I do want to ask though: what if Michael J. Fox didn't take his medicine, or what if he DID exaggerate his symptoms?
I mean, if it came out that he deliberately made it look worse than it was, would it still not be ok for Rush to call him on it? I'm not saying he did, I realize Parkinson's is a day to day thing, but if he did, I think it is ok to call him on it.
Also, I think the important thing that gets left out of the soundbites is what Rush said about this particular Amendment. He charges that the amendment legalizes human cloning. If that is correct, the voter's ought to know that. If it isn't, they ought to know that too.
Instead, they won't find out until after the election, when the name calling goes away. 10/27/2006 8:30:25 AM |

But it isn't correct. Rush, once again, is sensationalizing the amendment without having read the damn thing. But yes, if it did support human cloning then yes the voters should know. But don't you think they already would since it is such a hot button issue? 10/27/2006 8:33:58 AM |

^ Agreed. You can attack the message, but in this case attacking the messenger's disease itself is pretty low. 10/27/2006 2:01:24 PM |

Fox's response on CBS: http://movies.crooksandliars.com/MJF-CBS.mov
Rush is a jackass, and so are the idiots that support him, ESPECIALLY on this issue.
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/10/26/michael-j-fox-makes-a-fool-out-of-limbaugh/
The Quicktime version shows the full segment, which has meaningful words from Fox, but if you MUST, the cropped WMV is available there.
