Quote :
"Tonight's Late Show face-off between David Letterman and Bill O'Reilly — their first since January, when Dave called the Fox News front man 60-percent full "crap" — offers more acrimony, despite a bid by Bill to nip their beef in the bud. In a tape previewed by the New York Post's Page Six, Letterman calls O'R a "bonehead," then provokes the pundit by citing the "heinous, dangerous violence in Iraq." O'Reilly takes issue with the characterization of President Bush as "an evil liar," to which Dave responds, "You're putting words in my mouth, just the way you put artificial facts in your head.""

In the past few years, Letterman has really mellowed...shows like this one make me miss the good old days.

I'm sure O'R is preparing something clever and Letterman will snark him right off the stage.

Man thats some funny crap. I don't know why O'Reilly would volunteer to walk into the lions den like that. Should be fun though.

so dave DOESN'T think that bush is an evil liar?

because putting words in one's mouth is only wrong if the statement you make is untrue

Because I'm thoughtful.

ZING!

I always find these type of conversations interesting, because O'Reilly knows more about the specifics of the situation and is better at manipulating his opponent, but Letterman is a smarter person.

I am not a fan of him, but I have to say that that round went to O'Reilly.

Dave wouldnt let him answer a fucking question.

If your giving O'Reilly the win because Dave wouldn't let him answer a question, that would be the first win of Bill's career.

You have to give points to anyone who can frustrate O'Reilly and knock him off his intimidation game. Constantly going back to "IT'S ALL AN ACT, WE'RE FRIENDS" was just O'Reilly buying himself time, which is something he never has to do on his turf because he dictates pace.

^ you right.

I am sure Letterman is at least cordial to him before the show and all, but I did not see him being friendly to Bill

From what I understand, Dave never talks to guests before the show. Someone on the staff ordinarily does pre-interview stuff, but considering Dave doesn't talk to the people he loves beforehand (like Amy Sedaris), I don't see why he'd talk to O'Reilly, let alone be cordial.
