here's something I have noticed. This is to the people who have posted on here talk about how our 3-5 team is going to whoop up on the right now 3-4 ECU pirates. However ECU is going to overtime at southern miss against a southern miss team that beat the piss out of us...on top of that they beat the piss out of UVA a team we lost to today 14-7. ECU probably won't win this game but they have showed a lot better talent as a team against 2 teams we have played and lost to. I truly do not believe that we will beat their "asses". I am praying we can upset some teams cause if it comes down to the ECU game to be bowl eligible...

a team like NC State SHOULD crush a team like ECU...

however, if you have watched our team or have seen our clown of a coach you would realize that we are going to lose the rest of our games, including the one against ECU.

another embarassment to this university...

ECU beat Southern Miss in OT..

they also played the #3 team in the country better than anyone so far this year. That same #3 team that absolutely buried the ACC team in first place in our division right now..

It's certainly no sure thing we beat them.

V Maryland is in first too hoss..

Uh, yeah they are. 3-1 along with BCU and Wake... none of those teams have played yet so they certainly are in first.

V you know damn well that means nothing since they all play each other anyway still. They are tied for first..

are you drunk? forget the OOC record. right now they are tied for first with WF and Mary.

and i doubt we kick ECU's ass. we might win a close game. hell, we rarely score more than 21-24 points a game anymore. that doesn't equate to kicking anybody's ass.

Amato is going to have a tough time saying "what critics?" if we end up losing to unc and ecu.

you fuckholes dont seem to get something

these teams havent played each other, so, until they do, boston college is FIRST out of the three way tie. besides, even if they all had the same OOC record, theres no way you can make an argument wf or md is better than bc.

and i havent been saying we'll beat anyone lately, so you can go to hell

these teams haven't played each other, so until they do, they are TIED for first. period. forget OOC record. nobody is making an argument about which team is better. we are basically telling you that you are flat out wrong by saying BC is in "sole first place"

look at who theyve played and how they played them before you call me a dumbass, just because they have a decent record doesnt make them a decent team

2 Sat., Sep 2 @Navy L 28-23
3 Sat., Sep 9 @UAB L 17-12
4 Sat., Sep 16 Memphis W 35-20
5 Sat., Sep 23 West Virginia L 27-10
7 Sat., Oct 7 Virginia W 31-21
8 Sat., Oct 14 Tulsa L 31-10
9 Sat., Oct 21 Southern Methodist W 38-21

They beat an awful Memphus team, a bad Virginia team, an iffy Southern Methodist team, and an OT win against Southern Miss. They lost to a decent Navy and a bad UAB, and lost by 17 or more to good WVU and Tulsa programs. Yes they played WVU well for a while, but thats really all they've done. They are performing adequately for who they are, but compared to other teams, they are hardly decent.

and fine, im wrong about the whole "sole" thing, i should have used a better word, but NyM called MD THE first place team in the ACC Atlantic, and theyre certainly not that

^ My opinion is they're not a good team, but they are a decent team. Stick them in the ACC and they would be a better team than Virginia (who they beat solid), NC State, Duke, UNC, and who knows, maybe Florida State.

Regardless, they're probably joining Wake as the only teams from NC in bowl games.

This shows your stupidity towards sports. You can't compare different schools playing different schools and make a prediction. If so then Carolina is dead because Furman lost by 3 to them, We Beat App state which beat furman today by a score of 40 to 7. So we should win. I am saying this we have a great team when we do not make mistakes and our offensive cordinator grows a pair of balls and throws the ball instead of running 3 times and punting. Any team on any day can have a bad day. Also teams match up better against other teams. I don't care what any one says ECU is not of the same quality of NCSU. If they were then the ACC would have put them into the conference instead of BC. Does ECU have a chance to beat us. YES thats the great thing about sports any team on any given day can beat another team. I watched the Peach bowl when NCSU played ECU in person i watched a 21 point lead be thrown out the window by concervative play calling. ANY GIVEN DAY ANY TEAM CAN BEAT ANY TEAM!!

I don't give a shit that they lost to UAB and Navy, they have obviously improved greatly since the first two games. calling them "not even moderately decent" at this point in their season is just retarded

looks like youre the one who should learn how to read. and i dont care if theyve improved or not, theyre still not good enough. like i said, i'll give them adequate, but not good.

^^ and according to that logic, some 12-0 Division IV school can hang with a 12-0 OSU or Michigan team. Yeah right.

big deal, they'll just get beat by tulsa in the title game again if they do. the c usa east is weak as hell anyhow, none of the teams in that division are great, and only southern miss is decent (and thats just barely). next thing you'll be telling me is some team from the sun belt or mac is "good". because we all know kent state and central michigan are good teams

Heh, not trying to make any excuses, but just to let you know how close those first two games were, an ECU receiver fumbled on the ECU 25 right before the end of the first half which gave Navy an easy TD. Navy ended up winning by 5. ECU gave up 400 rushing yards that game as they were breaking in 3 new LB starters. Since that game they have given up an average of 130 ypg on the ground. In the UAB game, a Pirate receiver was heading towards the endzone to take the lead with about 1 minute left. A UAB DB stripped the ball at the 1 and UAB recovered and ran out the clock for the last minute. I think that if ECU played either of those teams again, ECU would win, but I know that you only get one shot and there are no do-overs. The Pirates just beat that "decent" USM team that beat State by 20, and yet you don't consider them moderately decent? Sorry, you just come off as an dumbass to me.

^^ yes

you may find this hard to believe but i watch both these teams, i keep an interest in southern miss since they beat us, and i always watch ecu games because i know people that go there and i like to laugh at them

southern miss packs a powerful punch, and they showed it against us. i didnt get to see tonights game, but what ive seen of them on espn (they seem to get a lot of tuesday night games) and online webcasts is, like i said, decent football. aside from the wvu game, ecu has not impressed me (and even that wasnt too impressive). they play sloppier and with less intensity, they look like us out there. they just know how to win when they get the chance (like im guessing they did tonight), and thus they are adequate. and thats all they are.

^
and that proves my point

if youre going to play a game seriously, you dont just let the ball get stripped away or fumble in game winning situations. decent/good teams dont makes those mistakes. its just like trying to say the arizona cardinals are a decent team, they just got bad breaks when they fumbled away a chance to win or when they allowed a go-ahead punt return and then missed the winning fg.

like I said, those were the first two games of the year and they have drastically improved.

if you don't take improvement into acount when judging how "decent" a team is now, then you're dumber than I thought.

^and that is a terrible analogy, AZ has lost SIX GAMES IN A ROW, 1 to the oakland raiders. ecu's game deciding mistakes happened early and they have turned it around.

ad*e*quate /'æd*kw*t/ [ad-i-kwit]
–adjective
1. as much or as good as necessary for some requirement or purpose; fully sufficient, suitable, or fit (often fol. by to or for)

In this case the requirement is being able to kick NC State in the ovaries.

So yes, ECU is adequate.

who have they "improved" against? memphis, virginia, and southern methodist, teams they should beat anyhow. if nc state beat uva today even with as shitty as they played, you wouldnt call that an improvement making them a decent team. until ecu does something impressive, like actually making it to that title game, then they arent a decent team. they havent shown me any improvement aside from this overtime win, and until i see something from this game to judge them, im not going to say "omg theyre a good team" just because they have a better record than us all of a sudden

ECU's defense holding USM to one offensive touchdown doesn't count as improvement over letting Navy score ~30?

I JUST TOLD YOU I HAVENT SEEN THE GAME YET TO JUDGE THEM

im not going to start sucking their dick just because they won, they could have played like shit for all i know and got lucky and won, so im not going to sit here and tell you they improved when i dont know if they did. im judging them on the last 7 games theyve played which ive actually seen most of, and they ARE NOT IMPRESSIVE. you act like im calling them a bad team. im not. you act like im saying we'll beat them. we probably wont. what im saying is they are not a good team, and they have not impressed me enough to be concidered a decent team. the only reason you say im not worth arguing with is because you dont have any evidence you can use to change my opinion.

oh I didn't realize you didn't watch this game.

and no, I say you aren't worth arguing with because you don't consider holding USM to one offensive touchdown as opposed to letting navy score ~30 in the first game of the season an improvement, among other reasons.

concidering i said at 10:59PM that they arent a decent team and that i didnt hear until 12:56am that statistic (there wasnt a box score up on the site i got the score from), how could i use it to analyze them? that is an improvement, but is it enough to change my opinion and concider them a decent team? not until i see some part of the game. i havent even seen it highlighted on espn yet. however, the fact that ive watched 7 of their games and im saying this about their team should say something, but you dont seem to care about that.

like I said, I didn't know you didn't watch the game so your denial of ECU's obvious improvement just seemed stupid. and the denial of improvement seems stupid regardless of whether or not you knew that stat, a win @USM is pretty incredibly obviously an improvement over losing to Navy and UAB. i'm talking improvement, I've decided that the "moderately decent" argument is a lost cause with you.

UNC and ECU are going to be PUMPED to play us, and we never get as hyped up to play them.

We've played a couple of similar opponents.
UVA - we lost, ECU won
Southern Miss - we got whipped, they went to OT

I'm not taking any game for granted anymore after the loss to UVA.

I honestly don't see anyway that UNC beats us no matter how pumped up they are. They are simply a really bad football team. Just bad. We have them on talent, we have them on speed, and we have them in coaching (yeah, I said it!).

However, ECU will be incredibly pumped up AND they are a moderately decent football team. You really can't deny that. They beat UVa and Southern Miss. They played WVU better than Maryland did. They have the talent/speed/coaching to beat us.

Frankly, if I had a choice I'd rather lose to UNC. ECU fans will be insufferable forever if we lose to them. At least UNC will get put in their place by their crap record this year..

All I know is:

Southern Miss is a traditional conference rival for ECU, so they were ECU's Florida State...

UVA is a game where ECU would definately play up for because its an ACC game...

ECU will play their best game against NC State because this is the game they will tell their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren about give a plaque, trophy, corner of their locker room, Life savings to commemorate a well-played game against the Wolfpack.

ECU is a should win game. NC State loses should win games. Therefore, ECU will beat NC State.

Normally, the same would apply for UNC. However, with as horribly god aweful as they are this year, it would take a monumental implosion by State for that to happen this year. If they were any kind of decent, I would chalk it up as a loss as well.
