(10/29/06 -- SANFORD) - Two N.C. State students and a 16-year-old are dead, and authorities say a drunken driver is to blame. The accident happened on N.C. 42 east of Sanford.

Authorities have charged 55-year-old Pastor Sanchez of Sanford with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and driving while impaired. They say he swerved his car into the path of a small station wagon driven by 22-year-old Helen Meghan Hughes on Friday evening.

Hughes, from Summerville, South Carolina, was driving her step-brother, 16-year-old Benjamin Richard Leonard of Sanford, and 18-year-old Jennifer Elaine Carter of Jacksonville. The young women were killed instantly, and the teenager died at a hospital.

It's common knowledge that drunk driving is more acceptable in Hispanic countries, particularly Mexico.

Meg was one of my best friends and I hung out with Jennifer at the State Fair. They were amazing girls. I also knew Meg's brother. I can't believe they are gone.

i dont know if any of you have been to any local courts recently but a good 75% of the cases going on last time i was there had to do with mexicans driving illegally without licenses...
