no really..
get all your extra files off the hard drive and onto an external drive or burned onto CD/DVD 10/31/2006 7:28:38 AM |

I can probably handle that...extra files meaning music, HW, Papers, Picures, etc... right? I just want to make sure I don't delete or take something important of PC...I am not that tech savy, but I am usually good about maintaining my PC in working order

yeah anything that you don't need to access quickly can be backed up
just stay within your my documents folder or wherever you chose to store all those files. don't remove anything in the windows and program files directories or you'll mess up some programs. you can also try the windows method of uninstalling some programs if there are some apps that you no longer use.
^ it's not lol

have you gone through and deleted all the temp shit that builds up and you dont need? you can also defrag your c drive and that will clean it up some also use the disk cleanup tool in the system tools folder 10/31/2006 10:30:26 AM |

Check out CCleaner. It goes through and clean up what ^ said, but automatically.

unless you have a SHIT TON of documents... SHIT TONS!!
deleting documents wont do much at all. the things to delete (aside from unused programs) are media files (mp3s, movies, video clips, etc)
[Edited on October 31, 2006 at 5:11 PM. Reason : defrag will net you jack shit in terms of freeing up space ] 10/31/2006 5:11:12 PM |

I was wrong...I am trying to get enough space to to Degrag...but it says I need at least 15% of space to Defrag.
Did that step, but I guess DL the software gave me less space on C drive. I have uninstalled programs that I don't use or need, but that does not seem to be getting rid or deleting them from PC. I deleted some programs that were up to 25MB and 40+MB....
Any serious suggestions helpful...thanks
