research and build your own.
or go to the Parts Express/HTGuide/madisound message board and see if anyone would build some for you.
but yeah, plenty of stuff will be better than those. 10/31/2006 7:30:20 PM |

i highly doubt that any random fucker could build TOP notch speakers - there's a lot of math and simulation that goes into that shit 10/31/2006 8:38:07 PM |

I have a set of lsi15s. They are incredible. There is nothing better in that price range, go buy some now. Anyone who denies they are incredible speakers for the price either hasnt heard them or doesnt know anything about sound.

i thought about these....they are in the same price range but they are really the bottom end of this line and the reviews are not that good for my music type....

the titanic is nice, but some of adire's stuff is probably in the same price range and better.
and be sure to get some kind of subwoofer equalizer, because room response is going to be a bitch

seriously, for personal use (i.e. not studio/business), there's no sense in $2000 towers
but it's your cash to burn
there's an entire section at avsforum.com dedicate to speaks in this price range, they would know 11/1/2006 8:28:14 AM |

in the lower 1000+ range there is a lot of quality range. Once you start getting over 1500-2000 the difference is much smaller. I spent a long time in that tweeter store in crossroads, and if you are an audiophile good speakers are a must. 11/1/2006 9:33:17 AM |

Dude
For serious sound, there is no upper limit on speakers.
People spend more on this stuff then twice the cost of my car.

= gimmick
I've played with those speakers and i was un impressed. not to mention i'm not buying speakers that can shock someone that casually places their hand on the top ( go to tweeter... do it you'll get a static snap every time )

basically once you get above a certain point with speakers, the human ear can not detect the difference in sound quality unless the speakers are put side by side and switched back and forth several times. One thing that does make a difference after a certain point is power. But pound for pound spending more than 2000 on speakers is just plain stupid unless you have cash to burn. 11/1/2006 1:12:24 PM |

what did you honestly expect from an electrostatic speaker. how often do your guests "casually " touch your speakers?
saying they dont sound good to you is one thing, but bitching about the reason it works is drunknloaded retarded 11/1/2006 6:44:10 PM |

i would say buy quality drivers i.e. morel, vifa, scanspeak, seas, etc.
and get a really quality crossover made for them
make your own enclosure, keeping in mind that perfect rectangular prisms and cubes are NOT the ideal enclosure shapes
put a little time into it and you can have an outstanding pair of speakers for WAY less than $2000 11/7/2006 11:38:06 PM |
