so i finally got my pin today

like i need to take prt 358, prt 350, and prt 250

358 has class at the same time as 250; also, the lab for 350 is from 1:30-4:15 on monday, and my lab for 250 is from 2:30-4:20 also on monday

these are basically like some of the only classes i have to take before i graduate(need like 2 more business classes to get my minor), so its not like i can just take an elective- are these the only times the classes will be offered or do more sections open up later or what?- all 3 of those prt classes are only offered for one class in the spring

Extra year in college then? If it ends up that way, then just take fun classes that you wouldn’t have had time for if not for this, and make the best of it.

Maybe talk with the head of your department and see if they will let you substitute classes for the same requirement. I was able to do this with one class where another class taught most of the same stuff.

Also look into inter institutional classes. It would suck to have to drive all the way to chapel hill or somewhere for a class, but if you could fit it into your schedule it might be worthwhile. I took classes at UNC while at NCSU. You pay the ncsu tuition price for the UNC classes, so the only extra cost is the gas.

You could always try talking to the professors/department heads, and seeing if they could open up an extra section, do an independent study, or offer a placement exam where you could learn the material on your own to see if you could get credit. Atleast with humanities in general and the philosophy department specifically, they always worked with me if I really needed something done and was willing to work for it.

And just watch tracks incase anything else new does pop up.

That’s all the advise I can think of for now, but ask your advisor for more for sure since I don't know anything about PRT stuff specifically.

^^
I ended up doing just that. One of my ST courses conflicted with my CSC courses, and I had to take both to graduate. Didn't have any classes MW morning, and the ST course I needed was offered then at Chapel Hill. Got a parking pass and drove there twice a week.

Talked to your advisor yet about the situation?

A class at UNC at NCSU prices even with the gas is still alot cheaper than an extra year in college. Plus the diversity of experience I think looks good on grad school applications/other academic endeavors.

With the interinstitutional stuff you might have to be a little forceful about it. I wanted to take an archaeology class at unc, but at state we had anthropology that covered a greater time period, including the one I was looking at.

They didn’t want to straight say go ahead, but when I told them a few ways how anthropology is different from archaeology, and how I wanted the more in depth coverage of the Greek time period, they lightened up.

You might say just need to say “look, if it comes down to this, or an extra year in college, you have to let me try this, even if we do offer those classes here, since I'm willing to put in the extra effort to head over there."

But hopefully a more managable option will open up for ya.

You start by going to Harris Hall (its by Dan Allen and has financial aid office, & the cashiers office upstairs), and you go downstairs by the registration and records place, and in an office on the west side there is the staff member who has the forms that you get your advisor to sign and the dean of your department to sign.

So that staff member, dean (dean’s assistant may work here), and advisor are your three big hurtles. Then you just take the form back to the original office.

I had M W F classes at state, and T TH classes at UNC, that worked the best for me.

A friend of mine used the interinstitutional program to get to know new professors in his field over at UNC, and they also turned out to be the ones who decided which grad students they accept each year, so next year he ended up being their top choice and got the most $ to go to UNC out of all the schools he was accepted at.
