WHY do you think it is important to me to be able to view pictures and movies on the tiny screen on an MP3 player?
WHY has it now become impossible to get a new MP3 player with over 40gb of storage that isn't overpriced due to it being able to view pictures and movies on it? 11/5/2006 7:52:11 PM |

adding movie capability at this point I'm sure doesn't affect the price of the player significantly (>10%) 11/5/2006 8:28:58 PM |

iPods have pretty much had the same pricepoints since their inception. 11/5/2006 9:01:55 PM |

God, please address such questions to the masses/market who are willing to purchase such things, not the companies who make it. See cell phones for additional case studies/reference.
Btw, what price range are you looking for? 11/5/2006 9:57:54 PM |

I just am looking for an MP3 player around 30-40gb that doesn't have all this extra jazz on it. 11/6/2006 12:08:38 AM |

at this point "all that jazz" isn't costing you any more in terms of price.

Yeah, Apple hasn't been able to justify keeping the pricing structure the same since the 3rd gen ipods. Cheaper parts, impending Microsoft Competition, saturation of the market, and some other forces have been pushing the prices steadily downward since the 40GB ipods came out back in the day.
