I had to at Enterprise. Dumbest fucking thing EVER. Who the fuck wears a white button down long sleeve shirt in the middle of the summer with full dress pants and shoes to wash cars??? Why the fuck is that necessary???

My current job with a school district tech dept. is great. Cargo pants and pull over shirts are completely acceptable. And they have a casual Friday policy, so I get to wear jeans and shit to work. And in the summer I get to wear shorts and sandals to work. HOLLA

monday's only

They had a relaxed policy during the summer. However after the time changed, I now have to wear long sleeves everyday. Luckily the owner is always hot so the office stays cool.

Khaki’s and polo with the staff of asclepius symbol on it, or scrubs
(an ancient greek symbol associated with a demi-god of healing, and associated with resurrection, much like the later symbol of the cross that is on my name tag at the vet clinic)

No. I work in manufacturing. It's actually against policy to wear one, as you might get it caught in a machine and have your necks snapped.

Where I work, the guys with degrees do Monday through Thursday, and the guys without degrees typically don't. It's an engineering design firm.

the facility i work at now is casual as fuck. i have never seen anyone in a tie

the facility i'll be working at come january is 100% professional dress. wearing a suit everyday is totally acceptable and not wearing a tie draws attention

honestly i prefer the professional dress atmosphere. i already own the clothes and i like them, they look good on me. plus i like the environment where everyone cares about their presentation.

IT'S A PIECE OF CLOTH TIED AROUND YOUR NECK! WTF?

WE STOPPED WEARING JUDICIAL WIGS AND TOP HATS, BUT WE CAN'T STOP THIS SHIT?
ARE WE STILL LIVING IN THE 50'S?

YOU ALL MIGHT AS WELL BE WEARING BRIGHT RED SUSPENDERS!
YOU WOULDN'T LOOK ANY LESS STUPID!

I'm a girl, so no. The guys do here 50/50, if they feel like it or have an important meeting - cool, if not, khakis/dress slacks and a button-up is fairly standard. also depends on what floor you work on, my floor tends to dress business professional whereas the 2nd floor tends to dress business casual, 3rd and 1st are hit and miss.

$200,000.

That's the salary I would require of a job before I wrapped a tie around my neck.

i wear jeans and a polo shirt, it is our version of business casual(work for the Feds)(that is Mon through Thursday, but we have to wear dress shoes) Then Fri, Sat and Sun we go casual(sneakers)

Only time I have seen anyone wear a tie to work is if they have a job interview afterwards. Even when guys "dress up" it is a button up shirt and dress pants/shoes, no tie.

My first real job required a tie....i felt like it was strangling me all day

No tie. Never have never will. It's important that you are comfortable at work. Today it was jeans, tennis shoes, pullover cotton shirt.

I would never have known that people were disturbed by ties until I asked TWW

the mindset of people on here never ceases to amaze me

it's like the 1% of society that is totally in disagreement with the standards of life

and worse this is is a place that makes you feel good about this

TWW will be the end of society

My reasoning is that I was forced to wear long sleeve cotton white shirts in the middle of the summer with dress slacks and shoes to go wash cars. 100+ outside? No, we don't wear short sleeve shirts, thats not professional.

I have ruined many nice ties, shoes, etc. at that job and it was a joyous day when I left that hellhole establishment. I would not mind wearing those kinds of clothes in a job that required me to be professional looking, but also afforded me a more professional job role and pay. Making 25k to wash cars in my Sunday best was NOT my idea of a professional job.
