my mom teaches line dance and she recorded some dance clips and asked me to upload to her website...problem is the 2 min clips she sent me are ~80MB

so what's a good free video compression program i can use to get this size down as much as possible and for her students to view w/o requiring any special codecs

i got my friend to get it down to appx 20MB but the video requires divx codecs installed and i'm hesitant to force her students to install a codec (they may think it's something not safe)

keep in mind these line dancers are mostly over 50+

upload to youtube, embed in webpage


or use windows media encoder and set for web server progressive download, vhs quality, 400kbps.

windows media or xvid/divx and host a link to the codecs so they know they're legit since you're posting them. I'd hate for them to have to stream it everytime they wanted to see it

yeah i want to avoid them streaming...
my initial thought was hosting the codec on the site....but that's an extra step for some of these non tech folks

let me look info windows media encoder......does that require any codecs to be installed to view? how's the compression ration thanks

anyone with wmp should be able to play any video encoded in windows media encoder. the compression depends on what settings you select.
