yes i have seen recent prices, my auction is up on ebay...either way i paid about 850 at best buy for the system, games and extra controller...i believe that 1100 might be more reasonable now that prices have hit rock bottom for ps3 auctions...i did camp out for 38 hours, compensation for that does need to be collected, that's my reason for 1100

so, why did you sit on it for 2 weeks and let prices hit bottom?

enjoy your new paperweight until you sell it on ebay for about $750

haha...it's funny that some of the people who spent 2 days in the cold don't understand supply and demand

i walked into an EB Games, no wait whatsoever, bought a 20GB PS3, turned around and sold it on ebay for 850 for a 300 dollar profit.

no i do understand supply and demand...there were over 15000 ps3 on ebay the day it came out...i wanted to wait til the end of their auctions before putting mine on, and i wanted to wait til as close as xmas as i could while still paying the rent; therefore, lower supply and still the same high demand...but that's alright, if my ebay auction doesn't work out, i have found a buyer

um... you do realize that sony didn't just release a few hundred thousand and say "that's all folks" right?
stores are constantly getting in shipments of ps3s, hence prices continue to fall and/or stay low

Assuming the system has not been opened. I see no reason why waiting was a bad idea. If ebay prices really get too low he can always return the item for zero loss. However, if prices go back up he's made a profit.

^^^^^^ There has not been a second shipment to my knowledge as of now. Therefore, the ones that were released initially are the only ones that have been released. Yes, obviously there are going to be more released, but most people don't know when.

^^^^^ As for ebay prices...about $5 to list an auction with a starting bid of $500+, plus ebay gets a back end commission, for $1000 sale, about $40. Plus, I believe pay pal gets a cut.

^^^^ & ^^ Yes the idea was to make money, but you're right...if this idea goes south, then all I have lost was my money for food and time. I can always take it all back.

^ best buys and walmarts have been getting second shipments in for the past week or so. haven't you seen people saying how they walked into a BB and saw a stack of them and picked one up? most places got at least another shipment in before black friday. sony is expecting to send around 4 additional shipments before the end of 2006, which will put around 800,000 units onto the market.

^^^^i'm pretty sure they aren't officially second shipments, as in they are part of the initial 400,000 sony and stores had trouble getting out on time and being that they all still have the blu-ray with them which sony said was being released with the first 400,000. Sony doesn't have a second shipment coming out until mid january according to investor reports.

No, the prices will not go back to what they were immediately after release, since those prices were basically a result of mob behavior, but they have been relatively stable at around 1000-1100 for quite a while. They will go up again before xmas, but buy how much no one can tell. They will likely stay above retail until after sony ships 1000000 which, due to the high defect rate of the blue diodes used, could take until february.

sony cant produce them because of the process involved in making the diode.

the delay are due to Sony's low yield on the blue ray dvd drives......this is per my friend who works for sony...after talking to him last night......that said anyone interested in a 20GB?
