I have an Olympus Camedia D-535 Zoom, 3.2 Megapixel, 3x Optical Zoom camera (yes, not very good quality). I did not buy any protective casing for it and ended up accidentally cracking the LCD screen. Now, since it's not a very good camera, I would normally scrap it, but my mom bought it for me and I'd feel bad, so I'd like to replace the LCD screen.
Is that even possible on this type of camera, and if so, where and about how much would it cost? 11/25/2006 11:20:51 AM |

Not worth the cost, time, and hassle of fixing. Since it wasn't a nice camera, don't bother. 11/25/2006 11:35:46 AM |

well, when used versions of that camera in good working condition go for 30 bucks on ebay and replacement LCD screens are nearly impossible to find for less than 49 or so...

I mean normally I'd suggest buying a broken camera with a working screen if the parts are hard to come by, but why bother removing the screen from a working camera?

This happened to my dad's camera and it cost about $120 to get the part from sony. He liked the camera enough to repair it instead of buying a new one. The camera was worth maybe $220 when it broke so it was still cheaper to get it fixed. If you look hard enough you may be able to get the screen cheaper from somewhere else if you can match all the specs but doing that probably isn't worth the time. I replaced the screen myself and it was quite the pain to get to.
Also another option is to buy a broken camera off of ebay and use it for parts. 11/25/2006 7:10:09 PM |
