yeah, but bball is just an amusing past time to make the football off season bareable... this is way more exciting, and as bad as it sounds, I think the football program could turn it around with the right coach much faster than the bball program could

that should help avoid a lot of the problems experienced during the bball search

Bob Holliday just reported on WRAL that Chuck Neinas will be conducting the search for State. Should be interesting since he is currently helping Miami as well.

college football is older than college basketball, eg the first NCAA tourney wasn't until 1939
football had college clubs and rivalries before basketball was even officially invented, it would only be natural it had a head start, but thats besides the point that basketball is currently king in NC

^ for the most part true, but the college teams were started around the same time, and was just showing that bball wasnt always king...

and how, exactly, will that help us get a contract with a reasonable amount of guaranteed money (for a good coach) through the Board of Governor's...

we're not UNC here, we don't get exemptions to that policy whenever we want one, sure it'll be harder for them to turn us down now (unless they turn down Butch Davis, because then it'll be 2 exemptions granted for unc, none for the rest of the schools in the state), but they'll probably still do it...

modern football could be said to start 1884 when the colleges started using a standardized rule set, however there are older games of psuedo football played by colleges as early as 1869 (Rutgers and Princeton) where as basketball was only invented in 1891

I meant in NC... I know that college football in general is older than college football in general... but that is doesnt even matter because thats not the point

^^ gotta get it out of the way now... make sure that when we start getting turned down by coaches because we can't negotiate an adequate contract people know who they should blame...

and the lackluster contracts we were forced to offer were a part of the problems in our last coaching search, ignoring them and putting the whole blame on fowler is just misguided...
