USC lost to an UNRANKED TEAM!
USC moved up when they beat Notre Dame.....yea, Michigan killed Notre Dame back when Notre Dame was ranked 2nd in the nation!
I hope USC gets killed by UCLA.....or just beat
anyway you look at it, UofM should be #2 11/27/2006 2:34:52 PM |

i've always opposed a playoff system, but this season has made a believer out of me. only 6 or 8 teams, though.
better yet, do away w/ the NC and go back to having bowl games that actually have tradition and mean something. and do away w/ every team in the country w/ a .500 record getting a bowl game, it's getting out of hand. 11/27/2006 2:47:29 PM |

If U of M wanted to play in the championship, then they should have beaten tOSU.
Everyone knew before the game that the loser would not be in the NC if USC beat ND.
They had their chance. Tough shit. 11/27/2006 2:51:31 PM |

^^^^Youre wrong. They were in a hostile environment. They lost by fucking 3, less than what most people consider to be "homefield advantage." They never got a fair shot at a neutral site. There is no way they shouldnt be in the championship game.

this guy is correct, people just don't understand big ten football and home field advantage in the horseshoe i guess...

what a bunch of liberal pussies..."waaa no one can "lose", everyone has to win, just keep playing till everyone wins at least once waaa"
ok, if there was a rematch, and Ohio State lost, then they would be split, so would you have to play ANOTHER game to break the tie?
and dont give me that "lost by 3, wasnt a neutral field" shit. First off, it wasnt nearly that close, they got a gimme TD late after the game was already over, and something tells me if Michigan had lost by "3" at michigan, you all would still be bitching about a rematch.
Michigan had their chance, and failed. Give someone else a chance. 11/27/2006 3:01:30 PM |

Dude, if you watched the game, you'd know that Michigan got outplayed up and down the field. It was just a couple of bad tunrovers that even kept them in the game. Besides, I look forward to USC winning their 3rd NC in 4 years.
And I certainly hope you're not hanging your argument on who beat ND when, because everyone and their mothers know that ND is severely overrated.

The Michigan argument is based on one game from each schedule, the loss. Compare the wins of the two teams and you'll see that Michigan has no business in a national championship 11/27/2006 3:20:38 PM |

not only did michigan come within 3 pts (and you can yap about how they didn't "deserve" TDs, same for OSU too), they did it with 110,000 fans screaming at the QB who had 1/4 second to make a decision against the #1 rated team in the nation (which at the time the rank value was only a few THOUSANDTHS of a point away)......its not so much that anyone wants a rematch, just have it be what it should be......it makes the entire ranking system look completely stupid 11/27/2006 3:24:23 PM |

so one thing about the mich/osu game is that michigan players straight up slipped and fell down on at least 3 different occasions that i noticed where the field simply gave way. now maybe i only noticed it b/c the announcers mentioned something about the field being redone, but it seemed strange that the mich players slipped that much and osu never did. 11/27/2006 3:28:25 PM |

Michigan should be in the NC because they are still the second best school in the nation, losing only to #1.
I also agree with Herbstreit that they should use a plus 1 system where it's #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3 with the winners facing off for the championship. 11/27/2006 3:45:47 PM |

So if Indy and Dallas meet in the superbowl and Indy wins they should play another game because they went 1-1 on the season? Give me a break its the NC (superbowl in my example), winner takes all.
Quote : | "USC HAS BEATEN 3 POSSIBLE BCS TEAMS 1) ARKANSAS 50-14 2) NEBRASKA 28-10 3) NOTRE DAME 44-24 (ALL NON-CONFERENCE GAMES)" |
Take a look at their conference games. Three games against unranked teams winning by one touchdown? Doesn't exactly go along with your USC is beastly and dominated all these good teams. Michigan has only game within a touchdown and that is to a good Penn State team that whose only losses come to ranked teams (Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin).
I don't really care who goes to the NC but I do think Michigan is the better team and deserves to go. Maybe you USC humpers aughta be complaining that the BCS sucks instead.
4 team playoff sounds good to me. Or if you want to make the #1 ranking worth something do a 4 team playoff for second place (BCS 2-5) and the winner plays #1 in the NC.
Anyway unless UCLA keeps the game close or wins I suspect USC will go to the NC just to passify the public outcry that would happen if Michigan played (who I think should).11/27/2006 4:23:03 PM |

^^^ put the problem is you act like Michigan is by far and away the best team... I would agree with you that if Ohio State was 12-0, Michigan was 11-1, and Florida, USC etc were 6-6, then yes, they should have a rematch. But when we are talking about multiple 1 loss teams and one of those has JUST played the undefeated team, then someone else should get a chance
^^ and I was being sarcastic in that quote
