Quote : | " Five Wolfpack Football Players Earn All-ACC Honors Courtesy: NC State Release: 11/27/2006 2006 All-ACC Football Team
Five Wolfpack football players were named to the 2006 ACSMA/AP All-ACC Football Team as released by the ACC office Monday evening. Senior defensive tackle DeMarcus “Tank” Tyler was named a first-team selection while senior guard Leroy Harris and junior tight end Anthony Hill earned second-team honors. Junior return specialist and wide receiver Darrell Blackman was named first-team specialist while senior linebacker Patrick Lowery was an honorable mention pick.
Tyler led the Wolfpack defense in tackles for loss and was second on the team in tackles, anchoring the Pack’s defensive front. He had a career-high 13 tackles against Boston College as NC State won, 17-15.
Blackman is one of two players ranked in the NCAA top-100 to return both a punt and kick for touchdowns this season. He ranked second in the ACC and ninth nationally in kick return average and ranks fourth in the ACC in all-purpose yards-per-game at 105.5.
Harris was a standout on the Wolfpack offensive line, starting 42 straight contests dating back to his freshman season. He played all-three offensive line positions in 2006 and led the team this season with 59 knockdown blocks in 10 games, missing the final two games of the season with an injury.
Hill was the team’s leading receiver in yards and catches from his tight end position, posting 45 grabs for 478 yards. Hill is a devastating blocker in addition to his pass catching abilities.
Lowery was a co-team captain (along with Harris, Tyler and William Lee) this season and led the team in tackles and ranked fifth in the ACC at 8.5 tackles a game while starting all 12 games at middle linebacker." |
