Why in the world doesn't/wouldn't every team we play run a press against us?

If even for the first half, a full court press against our team would totally exhaust us and we'd be putty in the second half, even against an inferior team.

because a good press is somewhat difficult to implement correctly and if it doesn't work, it leads to easy points.

this is what they said 3 years ago when we went 11-5 in the league.

Too bad we sucked in the tournaments

Teams in the ACC know that once the in conference games start all the refs will call touch fouls and we will have no players left. No need to press.

Sure worked when Michigan turned it on the last 3 minutes of the game. Had they pressed early, especially when we were coming back and making the run, we likely wouldn't have won that game.

And for those of you who cite fatigue and fouls, that's one thing other teams shouldn't have to worry about compared to us.

Gary Williams will have a NICE press/full court trap implemented for our first game.

That man knows how to runs a press.

^Oh....and Amaker is a pretty shitty coach.

Just wait till we play a team like UNC who runs up and down the court all game. We'll be exhausted and they'll be able to run up the score in the second half. Ugh. We really need some more bodies to throw on the court.

Running a full court press tires out the defense more than the offense anyway. It certainly requires more energy from the offense too, but defensive players feel it more (atleast that is how I always felt about it playing in high school).

no....it would exhaust them as well and because sidney lowe knows how to break a press and other teams dont want to get dunked on by gavin and fells for 40 mins

because once you beat the press, it's usually a 5-4 advantage for a few seconds while the D scrambles to get into formation

Yeah....

But other teams have more than 5 players.

the defense normally gets winded on a press, they have to run everywhere to cover and make traps

the offense as long as they are calm and dont get nervous and panic and create chaos normally can come out of a press easy

dont get the ball on the baseline or in the corner, keep it centered and a press is easy to break

I wouldnt be surprised to see it in a few games for a few minutes especially if Atsur is still hurt.

you make a good point slackerb. we don't have the depth to be able to make up for getting tired from the pressure of the press, and we certainly don't have a solid point guard to bail us out of one
