I just purchased a new webcam so that I could see and talk to my nieces and nephews on the west coast. Other people are having trouble seeing my webcam, but I can see theirs just fine. I'm not behind a firewall and I never have two programs trying to use my webcam at the same time.
I first tried the Skype software, and it crashed my computer completely Then tried to use Yahoo messenger, but that was when I was running into the problem where other people could not see me. I then tried AOL Instant Messenger, had to change my sign in port to 23 and it worked, but the screen is so small.
So does anyone have any tips for me while using a webcam, I'm pretty new at this. Also, what programs would you suggest for video conferencing.

what about netmeeting? you would have to know the IP of the other person though which may complicate things for ya. 12/4/2006 1:16:37 PM |

The best integration into a chat program I could find was MSN messenger, but that was a year or two ago and other programs may have improved. 12/4/2006 2:39:54 PM |
