please tell me what you think. i'm a technology noob. my old external harddrive broke during one of my moves & i'm looking for a replacement. this is also super small which makes it easier to carry around since i have a laptop

i would also get the 2 year extended replacement plan

i think its also refurbished-- what do you think about that?

thanks in advance!

not a bad deal...sometimes you can find them cheaper (or buy a laptop hd yourself and put it in its own enclosure)...i wouldn't bother with the service plan unless you abuse (or anticipate abusing) your equipment...seagate's pretty solid and i would ASSUME (though don't know) that it's covered for 5 years like their other drives

this may be a dumb question but will any external hd work with a mac?

the replacement plan is for peace of mind. i had an external harddrive and a laptop hd crap out on me witin 6 months of each other-- both devices were less than 3-4 years old

i don't abuse my stuff so i'm not sure what happened

As long as you have the correct port - FireWire or USB2, it will work.

On Black Friday, Circuit City had a 250 GB external for $40 after rebates, too bad I slept in that day or I might have picked one up.
