I actually thought the crowd was 1,000 times better than BH. Guess it all depends who’s around you. ?????

It’s just two stages now (city plaza and Moore square). Change they made last year as a Covid thing. Hopefully the club shows will be back in the future.

really impressed and happy with that lineup

there’s been an explosion of festivals since the first Hopscotch. I’m sure scheduling a festival in 2022 is insanely hard.

Tim Heidecker exceeded expectations. He was hilarious, and his band was Very Good.

Rage last night, haven't seen them since Rock the Bells, brought my 5 and 7 year olds who have been begging to go since I told them they were touring

Older one made it all the way to the end, younger one, not quite. Have a pretty great video of Killing in the Name swinging between the band, my kid singing and playing air guitar, and ending on my other kid sound sleep during what must be the loudest and highest energy moment he's ever been in

Not a concert, but saw Kevin Hart at PNC tonight. He was hilarious, might be my favorite set from him ever.

Question though, has anyone been to a show with Yondr pouches? I had a terrible experience with them and am wondering what everyone else thinks, seem to be a pretty polarizing product

Never been to a show with them, but love the idea. It's incredibly annoying to be at does where a majority of the audience is recording on their phones much of the time.

What made your experience terrible?

I saw Jack White with the phone things…I get the idea but I have a problem with it for two reasons:

1) I’m a father whose wife has no problem with me going out and doing whatever once the kids are in bed…if I’m often going to places where I can’t be reached that’s an issue

2) Add up how much it must costs to rent those things and pay all the extra ppl needed to deal with them. That goes into the cost of your ticket

^^I had a situation where our babysitter couldn’t reach us and we weren’t able to respond/react until the show was over a couple hours later.

^^,^^^ Well as a non-parent i don't have those communication issues. although if that was a problem couldn't you have went and checked your phone for messages at regular intervals? As i understand it they have places for you to do that?

Also i would gladly pay a little more to go to shows where the people around me aren't constantly recording/taking pictures/etc. Itb can be incredibly annoying.

I went to Jack White in Charlotte and absolutely loved the yondr pouches. Absolutely willing to pay a little more for that to be the standard at shows.

CAN I go check my phone? Sure.

Do I want to pay more money so I have to miss several parts of a concert to go check my phone? No I do not. Is checking my phone a few times throughout the night the same as being available immediately if there’s an emergency? Of course not

Again, I get the idea, but I also don’t really give a shit what other people are doing at a show. I came to experience a concert so I focus on that. Sure I would prefer not everyone have their phone out but it’s not really a serious bother of any kind to me. Do you, spend less time worrying about what other people are doing

Btw, tip for anyone that really needs their phone during a show. At my venue the Yondr people were not taking your phone immediately after security. Bring a cheap or old phone with you and hand that to them in the pouch line.

It's not that I'm worrying about what others are doing with their phones. It is incredibly distracting to me and detracts from my own experience when others around me are constantly holding their phones up directly in my view. I don't give a shit what other people are doing, so long as it is not negatively impacting my own experience.

Sorry that i don't think people's social media clout is more important than my own enjoyment.

I’m short, everyone is always in my view all the time, so I guess people holding up phones is only really like 10% worse than what I normally have to deal with anyways

Had a first at a show tonight. Lucy Dacus came out to inform us that their tour bus driver had bounced with the bus (that I was parked right in front of on 36th st) and all their shit (minus gear which was already unloaded on the stage). She then played a 5ish song solo acoustic set while her band mates got that sorted with the police. Then the opening band came on then Lucy played a full set. She gave us an update later that the bus driver had been found by the cops at a junk yard maniacally laughing and videoing himself with the bus. All in a great show. #truestory

Cool.

The show was pretty awesome, he sounded good, engaged with the crowd and was funny. And I'm not in a cult. (and I still don't really care for his latest album, but it at least grew on me a little bit and a few of the songs are ok)

Just saw that tix for Tyler Childers @ Red Hat are going on sale in a few days, for a show that's next August. When did they start selling tickets 10-months in advance? And when did lawn seats start being $100+?? Sheesh.

Opting for GA hopscotch wristband this year for the first time since year 1. $275 more for VIP is just not worth it with the new format.
