I booted up my laptop this morning and noticed a few problems. For one, the scroll bar on my touchpad mouse no longer works. it just moves the cursor like the rest of the touchpad.
2nd...i usually have about 48 processes at startup, and today there are only 35.
3rd, when i click start, all programs, it does not list all my programs, it doesn't even show me the little black arrows to click on to make the rest appear.
i tried rebooting a few times, and it still doesn't work right.
any suggestions? 12/13/2006 6:03:46 AM |

Maybe if we knew what laptop you have, what operating system you run, or other useful information like that, we could help you better.

Compaq R3306US, running windows xp
everything works great except the "scroll section" of the mouse pad does not work anymore...here is a picture of that section, it is on the right side of the touchpad http://www.notebookreveiw.com/assets/3667.jpg
you are supposed to be able to move your finger up and down over it and it will scroll the page down... it just moves the cursor now... 12/13/2006 3:10:35 PM |

Your next step is to try and re-install the drivers. 12/13/2006 3:26:17 PM |

i downloaded the touchpad drivers from compaq's webpage and installed them.
when i go to mouse properties in control panel, it says i have a microsoft ps/2 compatible mouse installed...and it has options for mouse wheel, speed, etc...
my computer thinks i have a regular mouse installed...
the touchpad works fine, except the "scroll portion" doesn't work anymore... and i have no settings for it. 12/13/2006 3:33:33 PM |

Mycomputer>properties>Hardware>device manager I think.. Then find your touchpad and uninstall reinstall the driver. nm just reread your post and there should be options for your touchpad that allow scrolling. Sometimes it is turned off. Looked for advance button or something.

my computer says that a normal ps/2 microsoft compatible mouse is installed
for some odd reason the computer still thinks a normal mouse is installed...no touchpad... i dunno what to do
ok...for some reason it is working correctly now, but i'm not allowed to open the mouse properties...it says, "An expection occured while trying to access.......etc...."
