my neighbor pretends that one side of my yard belongs to him and cuts the grass every week. thats awesome!

but he also parks his big SUV out there on the street, too -- not that cool because HOA rules say we can only park in front of our own property, so if I have company, they'll have nowhere to park

also, it bothers me that he pretends to own part of the property i'm paying for

does the weekly lawn care outweigh all these things? yes/no

no, and plant a row of tree/hedges or build a fence just to make your point.

yeah my families house in concord is over 1 acre inside a neighborhood
this is because the 2 places behind us were model homes and for some reason i guess they never expected to sell them or something.... because our yard goes up to about 6' away from their deck.

I am sure if you went over to your neighbor's house and asked him if he could keep that part of the street clear, he might be reasonable. Heck, he may even keep mowing that part of the yard.

Being a bitch about it ala^^ and ^^^ will do nothing but piss him off and create an enemy where there needn't be one.

Now if he tries to claim it is his property, then you can get a survey/go to the HOA/etc.

well i'm not afraid to talk to him, but i was wondering about the efficacy of making our first communication being me saying, "YOU FUCKING LAND THIEF" because no matter how I word it, I'm sure he's gonna take it like that

im sure if you can think of a way to bring the topic up in a non-hostile way.

id just go out there while he's mowing one time and be like "hey man, i always wondered why you mowed up to X spot. i thought my land started at Y. am i confused, you confused, what?"

that way no one looks like an idiot really and you can look it up together. that and you already know you are right.

im assuming you own?

seems the lawncare thing is nice. maybe he thinks hes insulting you by gently showing your lack of lawncare?

how often do you have people over that the parking is an issue?

Here is a way to word it..

Next time you plan on having friends over, just walk over there and ask him nicely to move his truck because you are expecting company and they need a place to park. I would imagine that if he is a reasonable person, then he would move it and probably take the hint and not park there anymore.

If he keeps parking there, just say something like "Hey man, I occasionally have friends over and I don't really want to have to bother you every time they come, is there another place you could park your SUV?"

now is a perfect time to bring it up, as it is the holidays and you may have guests coming over who need an appropriate place to park.

Then, if he doesn't comply, have a rager and have people park in his front yard.

I'd just tell him you appreciate him mowing that area and you're cool with him parking there short term but if you have someone coming over he needs to move ... and make sure he knows that could be early/late/whatever, so you would recommend he makes sure someone's home when that vehicle is parked there.

as far as mowing the yard, he might know that it's not his but he mows it to make his yard look better.

ie, he might be pissed that you don't mow your yard as often.

just saying as a potential thing

just make sure you mow the same area he mows... especially if your mower stipes this way it'll still look like it belongs w/ your property. maybe if he cuts his turf at 4" go for 3.5" to show a little delienation
