anyway... the question's a bit too ambiguous... are you just talking about our government, or are you talking about our businesses as well? Because i'm sure they're trying to do things in any country our government isn't already in...

^, ^^ I would go so far as to say that we are actively involved in every country where we have an embassy. Most are working to actively pursue U.S. politcal, economic, military, security, and commercial interests.
