yep it has vga, and her laptop has vga video out, so i should be set, i've just never messed with it before (laptops to external moniters)

i just found the tires you were talking about, i can run H's on there (if the shop will put them on (i have no tools to do it at all)) as i don't think i'm gonna be breaking 130 (100 maybe but not 130) anytime soon.

H's have the 70k warrentee and V/W have a 45k one

As far as the tires go, I've had 2 sets of Bridgestone Potenza G009's on my cars and they're great. Even in the heaviest rains this summer I haven't any issue with traction. The only problem I have had with them is in the snow, but that's probably more of the fact that my car sucks in the snow. (Honda Prelude) I could only imagine the RE960's are better, since they're the "Step-up" version of it.

I can't comment on how long they actually lasted, as the first set was lost due to wrecking the vehicle... but I had gotten 40,000 miles out of them to that point and they were still doing great. I've put about 20,000 miles on the current set I have.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+G+019+Grid

Looks like they've discontinued my tire for a newer model though.

Let's talk suits. Already have a classic navy and looking to get one in charcoal or gray. Advice? I've checked Brooks Brothers clearance and will probably check out Nordstrom Rack when I get back to Virginia.

Don't send me to Jos. A Bank, I only need a couple of suits for what I'm doing at the moment and I'd rather dump $500 or $600 for a nice suit (on sale) than get 4 or 5 lesser quality suits.

I'm a suit snob, I admit it.

I shop at Belk. I get Nautica and Ralph Lauren suits from them for about $200-300 (when they go on sale). Definitely nice suits and great quality.

I had a Ralph Lauren blazer for a while but I wasn't a fan. Material was shiny and felt cheap to me.

Unless you're an exact fit with a particular waist, inseam and chest size, I'd recommend you get tailor fitted. Even a quarter inch difference will give you infinite more comfort and style than something off the rack.

In Raleigh, there is a place called North Hills Tailor, on falls of Nuese. Ask for Eric, and mention my name.

^^^^nothing wrong with being a suit snob. I don't think I look good in any of those cheap suits (at least without a damn good tailor)

Found this on sale on the Brooks Brothers website for $499:

http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=372&Product_Id=1378290&Parent_Id=305&default_color=GREY&sort_by=§ioncolor=§ionsize=

But not in a 40R.

Anyone own any Austin Reed? Tried on one of their suits the other day, not bad but I wasn't a fan of the tropical weight wool.

I think you'd be alright with one suit as long as you think you can keep it in relatively good shape for the interviews. Bring a few shirt/tie combinations to change it up. What color is the suit?

what i think i'll do is bring one navy blue sport jacket and 2 brown/tan slacks with 2 shirt/tie combos to match

i do plan on drinking at the wedding and im pretty clumsy, so i prolly wanna have a backup

and the navy blue is pretty standard and can be easily matched with things i think

Whats your interpretation of "dress shoes"?

To me, they're church and wedding shoes

To some, they're anything above sneakers

Something you'd wear around in Uptown Charlotte during the work day. And i'm specifically not talking about Gateway Village area.

just casual

Lucy, you remember what your dad said when me and Buck got married?

"Son, you should buy your tuxedo. That way you save money on your 2nd and 3rd marriages."

The orange is pretty snazzy. Besides, I think my dad will be wearing his powder blue tux, and that could be awkward.

Thumper, remember when you told Dad that you didn't think he was talking to you because he wasn't looking at you?

Anyone have recommendations for a good slip on boat-shoe? I had a pair of Tommy Bahamas that lasted a few years for me that I really liked. Never tried Sperry's before.

im not sure why you would consider anything but sperrys

i mean to each their own but i go through atleast a pair of billfish a year, and then i have various versions of the originals although i dont wear them as often

Sorry - that was more my question. Is there anything besides Sperry that I should look at, or just go with the classic?

i personally just really enjoy both the comfort of the billfish around my feet as well as the shoe's aesthetics. other brands may look similar and may work for you, but to me they seem ungainly and not as "clean" looking as the sperry models. they're just very simple and well made. i say i go through a pair a year because i wear them ALL the time, year round.

hey guys, i need a ruling

what's the current stance on ties with jeans?

gut instinct says no sir, but it seems to be cropping up more and more in casual settings.

things that make sense:

1.) no faded or stressed jeans, nicer top end jeans preferably as dark as possible
2.) solid shirts
3.) tucked in of course

things i wonder about

1.) shoes
2.) tie patterns? seems like, a solid, skinnier base tie would work best, but idk

is this in any tense acceptable?

i was going to wear a new blue paisley tie today, dark jeans, baby blue solid shirt

seemed acceptable in my head, put it on, made me nervous. i think it would have looked better with a solid colored tie, but said fuck it and went without.

what say you

I have never worn a tie with jeans, however I also don't think I ever tuck in my shirts into jeans, so I'm really not versed on protocol there.

the tie/jeans thing would make me feel uncomfortable/blue-collar (HEYYY-O). but i also will wear a polo collar dress shirt tucked into jeans (usually with the sleeves rolled up) on fridays, and im ok with that.

im also ok with jeans/polo collar dress shirt and a sportcoat/blazer for going out at night, but that may be the DC in me.

For headphones I use these Sony Active Style earbuds

They've been alright so far. Fairly cheap too. Its a pain getting them on your ear sometimes, and there's no way to hook them on your shirt if you're talking to someone, but otherwise no complaints.

Anyone been to the new H&M yet? They don't have dark denim in my fucking cut.

I tried on their "slim waist, regular leg" cut and it was a fucking vice on my balls. I asked the employee and she said "oh, it's a European cut."

Fuck that. I wear a 31/30 from another store and it's baggy on me, and I try on a 31/32 at your place and I can't button it without sucking in all of my organs?

have you worn them enough to start breaking them in yet?

you might exp blisters for the first couple wears, or atleast hotspots. but it is a no pain no gain type situation, like breaking in rainbows.

i just took some dr. scholls odor eater stuff to mine. i want a fresh pair but mine are so comfy still, i am trying to stretch them out through the summer as much as possible, or atleast past the first weekend down to the beach.
