I know there are several draft topics already, but I figured this one could be centered on just the panthers discussion. While I won't go too far as into the picks the panthers would make, I will offer what I as a fan would like to see happen. What are some other panther's fans ideas about the upcoming draft and who they would like to see selected?

1st round Paul Posluszny LB Penn State

2nd round Tom Zbikowski S Notre Dame

3rd round Chris Leak QB Florida

4th round Anthony Gonzalez WR Ohio State

id like to get leak at some point. perhaps a trade for another 2nd or 3rd rd pick, or work a deal with a team to draft him in one of those rounds and trade him over, but i dunno what he would be worth

I would love to have leak, I feel that he would be an adequate backup, and maybe a starter down the road. I didn't really forsee any panthers fans wanting to use a 1st or 2nd round pick on him though. If he lasted to the third round I would love to grab him

we got rid of henning, and that's a great start to '07. I'm interested to see if they go mainly O or D in the draft....there are huge holes on each side.

posluszny would definitely be ideal

I would like to see the Panthers go defense in the first two rounds with a LB (posluszny would be really nice) and then a corner; that position really hurt the Panthers last year IMO

They definitely need to draft a QB; they won't be able to get Leak w/o trading up; his performance in the NC game helped him and everyone knows he will look great at the combine where it is just a lot of passing accuracy type drills and he may be the best at that in the country. The knock on him is he can't throw when he is pressured, but someone will figure they can coach that out of him and fall in love with his arm strength and accuracy in the first two rounds. Also, from what I can tell, he is a great kid so he will prob. interview really well. The QB's that will for sure be gone then IMO will be Quinn, Russell, Leak, stanton from MSU, and perhaps troy smith (but unlikely).

Best available at QB would be the kid from Houston (Kolb I think), Beck from BYU, or maybe Palko from Pittsburgh. If none of those appeal, I would trade up and get a really good one. Delhomme is serviceable at best and definitely not a long term future at QB.

Is posluszny the one that got hurt pretty bad in a bowl game 2 years ago?

Fox will not draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round.

Yea, partially torn ACL. That's why he wore that huge brace for the first half of this year.

back to the zbikowski comment. Someone needs to alert ESPN that he isn't in the draft, I mean how can they have him as the 4th best safety and the 26th overall prospect, when he isnt even in the draft? when will we ever learn that rivals >>>>>ESPN

Is it me or 3 out of 4 players listed above are white? Not that it really matters, but Gonzalez ain't gonna be there til 4th round. Depends on how his workout goes, many are projecting Posluszny as a late 1st, early 2nd pick.

this would be smart:

1st Rd: Lamarr Woodley LB/DE

2nd Rd: Michael Griffin S

3rd Rd: Troy Smith QB

4th Rd: Buster Davis LB

if we are actually going to go after Tony Gonzalaz (WR) out of tOSU, we need to do a couple other things at the same time. First we need to make a deal to get Tony Gonzalez (TE) from the Chiefs...then we also need to draft Steve Smith (WR) out of USC...that way we can have 1 TE 3 WR sets with only 2 different player names...thats sure to give opposing 2ndaries fits

even with henning gone, fox will keep his conservative-as-fuck style in place

We would waste money on a good TE since we never throw to them

Fox prefers mindless fucks with hands of stone like Gaines and Mangum

^yeah i dont really expect a Gonzo or anything, just pointing out about the names

however Wesley Walls had a helluva role in our offense (granted Fox wasnt the coach then)

i would kill to get reggie nelson with the first pick. this kid is a ballhawk and staright up playmaker. he can replace slow ass minter (who is ALWAYS taking bad angles and gettin burned) to solidify our D as a top 5 D in the league. if hes gone, i would go with landry or ginn (if keyshawn leaves). ginn would be an explosive option opposite smith and pick up our return game, which coincidentally was 32nd in the league this year

Personally, I like some of the draft choices, but I definitely think that the Carolina Panthers need to rebuild on offense (mainly a QB, of course), since we do have a pretty good defense already... and the Panthers weren't putting too many points on the board this year mainly due to poor offensive execution (umm, umm, the QB), so I would say draft a QB the first round, and leave the other rounds for the rest.... (just an opinion)

^ troy smith, a heisman winner, will not go in the 3rd round

a more realistic QB that i think would be a good choice is Colt Brennan, from Hawaii

since when does the heisman trophy mean shit in the pros

if brennan goes, he'll be in the first rd and troy smith will be a late 1st day pick

I saw Brennan ball out every game I watched him play in...but I'm not sold on him being a 1st round pick...he was somewhat a product of the offense ( a la recent Texas Tech QBs )...but he is pretty accurate and you cant argue with his stats

Troy smith is like 5 10, hell go prob in fourth or something....Leak is accurate, but I dont know about his arm strength....

panthers might as well take OL first couple of picks, and get somebody to return kicks and they would be fine

reggie nelson ... Gonzalez from OSU ... Tedd Ginn Jr. (if available) since Keyshawn will retire now that Henning is gone, or Buster Davis.
