^^ that makes no sense at all. maybe if the charlotte one was going to be in south charlotte, but it's in the university area, which is 2.5 hours from here if you drive the speed limit.

yeah it is.

Target furniture is better quality and comparable or cheaper than ikea stuff, but doesn't come in weird "contemporary" shapes.

Half of me is thinking yay for better design for the poorer. The other is thinking yay for shitty furniture (quality).

Cheap and crappy is how they run their business model, and it seems to be working well. Any thoughts/speculations for the choice of Charlotte, versus a potential market of 3-4x that number of students further east?

I just got back from the IKEA in MD

I know when I'm a grown up I'll have nice furniture that comes put together and costs more than $30 and isn't made of particle board, but for right now, IKEA is a godsend.

Now where are they based, again?

The Swedish-based company, based in Sweden, is Swedish-based.

The best thing about their furniture is you don't really have to care about it.

I bought a night table last spring...and a few weeks ago my puppy decided to chew off a corner of it. I honestly didn't even really care

i've got a dresser in the guest room that is from ikea. great quality so far.

solid wood top and sides. the only thing i believe is particle board are the bottoms of the drawers.

cheap too.

They are shipping all of the building materials to Charlotte in the next few weeks, but it will take a while before the store opens because they have to assemble it with wood glue and allen wrenches.
