actually just one
im at my girls house and her dvd player is hooked right into her surround souund speakers
when you watch a dvd everything is normal as far as sound
but ive hooked it up to the tv so that the sound from the cable box/tv comes out through the speakers via the auxilliary setting
i put it on aux and turned off the tv speakers, and turned the tv volume all the way up
my problem is all the sound is coming from the back two speakers instead of the fronts
my question is why 1/18/2007 10:27:07 PM |

You probably have your front and rear speakers mixed up. 1/18/2007 10:36:15 PM |

^^ I don't think you know what normal means...
first, what kind of surround sound system is it?
How is the DVD player connected (optical output, red/white cable, digital coax, or 5 ch. input)?
How is the TV connected? 1/18/2007 11:15:30 PM |

normal means it sounds like its supposed to when playing a dvd
the voices come from the front
sounds on the right come from the right
sounds from the left come from the left
if i took those speakers and put them in the front then i couldnt watch any dvds
and that would piss off old girl
i just want to be able to watch tv with the sound
anyways all the shit is hooked up with red and white av cables 1/18/2007 11:30:45 PM |

When you're watching a DVD, does sound constantly come from the back speakers AND front speakers? Even if the front and back speakers were switched, sounds would still be coming from the left and right as normal, and voices would still come from the front.
And you didn't say what kind of surround sound it is.
And the receiver should have a testtone mode where it plays sound out of the channels, and it tells you which channel is suppose to be playing.
