was cleaning my 700 ADL this afternoon. when i put the bolt back in it, the release wouldn't catch. now i can't get the bolt to stay in it when i pull it back. any ideas? i put a couple drops of gun oil on the bolt release button in front of the trigger.

I have never had this happen to my 700. I was gonna say to put a couple drops of gun oil on the bolt release button in front of the trigger, but you already did that.

this rifle killed an unspecified number (greater than 1) of bucks within about 45 minutes over Christmas break. it's a fierce instrument of death.

but this is annoying me.

here's mine...now how do I fix it? only thing I can think of is to pull the action/barrel out of the stock and see if i can get to the spring that resets the bolt release. i'd really rather do it an easier way, though.

but i'm not cutting any deals on the Remington. i love it.

i'll sell you a Marlin 882SSV .22 WMR with a little 3-9x32 on top for a pretty good price, though

this happened to mine last year

took it to the gunsmith and it turned out that the fine folk at remington had put one of the spring plates (?) in backwards....gunsmith was surprised the rifle had worked in the first place
