i just called manning & crouch and told the lady i want to talk with crouch.
she said that crouch is in court with a murder trial and thus, an associate will call me.

hmm.... given that he is busy with a murder case, it may not be a good idea to work with him?

^^^not uncommon, you might not ever talk to him at all, only his paralegals. he's always the one that handles things in person in court though. manning just chills in his office and shows up for the big cases.
