^^ apparently the jury and judge thought ten years was the correct sentence, my guess is that she was white and everyone involved was racist as hell. I mean ten years for a blowjob at 2 yrs apart thats fucked up he wasnt even 18.

^ if you read the article, the jury was unaware that the felony carried a 10 year mandatory minimum sentence. the jury forewoman is quoted as saying she doesn't think he should have been punished like that.

Its a bullshit case, but sadly there are lots of them where its pretty obvious that the person being imprisoned shouldn't be but will not go free because of some little technicality or simply no body wants to be the one who takes responsibility to free that person.

shit is oooooooooolllllllllllllllldddddddddddd as fuck. it was major national news for awhile. oprah, today show, larry king, all the media big wigs had the various people involved on their shows.

as a poster above said, the jurors apparently were unaware of what sentence a conviction carried, and they were confused by a bunch of stuff. also, the kid is practically the only black person in his neighborhood, and the "victim" was white. the girl's parents are the ones who pushed for prosecution, and they weren't too happy about their daughter's relationship with a black kid. he was adopted in high school by the family of a white teammate when they learned how atrocious wilson's living conditions were. everyone around the town that they lived in readily acknowledged that racism is an issue there.

there was a supreme court ruling dealing with sodomy laws and it deemed them unconstitutional (sodomy = anything not penis in vajayjay). but that applied to two consenting adults. i wonder if the logic could be applied to having two separate laws for different sex acts (like if it doesn't matter what sort of sex two consenting adults have, then why should there be a law that distinguishes between different types of sex)

I know this is old, but I think a lot of folks are missing the most twisted part here.

I mean, yeah, racist parents, oversexed teens, a video camera, and on old law make for crazy news. But the really ridiculous part here is the whole plea deal. If he admits to being a child molestor, he gets out in two years. But if he maintains his non-pervert status, he's stuck in there for ten. I can see some sense in that if we were actually dealing with a child molestor. I dunnno...this prosecutor's a fuck face...
