I searched, but the only relavent thread I found was like a year old. Looking to buy some new computer speakers, Id like a 2.1 system, not looking to spend more than $50ish, maybe up to $75 Any reccomendations? Id prefer something with a strong, deep bass, Im currently replacing a Boston acousics system, thats just not cutting it anymore. I liked my sisters Altec Lansing system, but didn't catch the model number. Just looking for some suggestions, thanks 1/28/2007 10:30:11 PM |

Hearing things in person is always the best. Grab your mp3 player (if you have one) or borrow one and head to your favorite electronics retailer. Try all of their speakers with music that you're familar with. Trying a wide range of music is a good idea as well. If any store that has a sales staff that is bothered by you doing what I've suggested, shop somewhere else. Buy the ones you like. Feel free to shop around. 1/28/2007 10:35:56 PM |

look, i like klipsch as much as the next person...but unless you're going with a surround setup, there is NO reason to buy them...my logitech 2.1 system that i got on sale for $50 sounds JUST FINE for two speakers and a sub
even then, my $200 logitech 5.1 system sounds damn fine...if i had an abundance of money that i wanted to spend on something i didn't need, klipsch would be on that list 1/29/2007 12:07:19 AM |

Should sound solid. I would recommend the logitech Z-3's that I have (look good, sound good) but they're discontinued (were discontinued recently i believe).
Really though, logitech speakers have some hella good bass, and those Z-4's will sound better than my Z-3's. You would probably be very satisfied with those speakers. 1/29/2007 1:25:33 AM |

you will not be able to beat the kipsch 2.1 system for a computer speaker setup. It is worth the extra money. 1/30/2007 6:27:28 PM |

hell no it's not, it's called diminishing returns... especially not for 2.1, maybe for >5.1 1/30/2007 8:11:40 PM |

ummm, the klipsch sound better, and if you have surround sound on your computer, you lose at life. 1/30/2007 9:55:20 PM |

yes, they sound better, and yes if you have 5.1 on your desktop you do lose at life, but no it's not worth the extra money.
point being the x-230's are $40, the klipsch are $150, that's 375% the cost of the logitech's, but you do not get a 375% improvement on sound quality.
