School officials acknowledge the test is sensitive, and false positive readings can be the result of using products containing ethanol, including mouthwash and Balsamic vinegar. But Reynolds said in order for students to test positive, they would generally have had to consume the equivalent of one or two drinks. Other districts already use the test. Middletown began using it last spring for students suspected of using drugs and alcohol. This month, the district expanded it to include a random pool of about 1,800 students. Critics have said the testing does not work and invades students' privacy. "Medical care and treatment are issues between parents and children," said Deborah Jacobs, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey."

oh, and I don't think this policy is Constitutional. It ought to be shot down pretty quickly. If protecting the life of an unborn child is an "invasion of privacy," then so is mandatory drug testing for teenagers in high school

That is some fucked up shit. I wonder what parents have to say. This only encourages skipping school monday and tuesday. What about kids whose parents let them have a glass of wine with dinner or a beer during a sporting event. I guess it is no longer the parents decsion on how there kids should act. We all know by the way that underage drinking is the downfall of society . The drinking age is 21 in the US one of the highest ages in the world but to go further it is rediculous at the lengths and the tax money spent enforcing the legal age.
