On 1st and 10 they're talking about Tyrus Thomas' comments about just going out there and picking up the check. I don't know the full context of what he said, but it doesn't sound nearly as serious as it's been made out to be.



Also, why is everyone (Skip Bayless being the guilty party today) still whining about LeBron James' not competing in the dunk contest? Don't they know by now that the contest is reserved for players with three or fewer years' experience? They don't call it the "Rising Stars" slam dunk contest for nothing....

they are just making a big deal about an athlete actually coming out and saying that he is all about the money. I was listening to the Dan Patrick show and he was talking about how, it may have been taken out of context. I know chicago fined him 10,000 for the comments, so they took it pretty serious to. When they read the comments on the show, they made it seem like he was talking about the nba as a whole, rather than just the dunk contest. Don't know how Thomas meant it initially.

Dude I love the NBA, but fuck David Stern and the NBA dunk contest.

Last years was a fucking joke, Nate Robinson winning on his 20th attempt, give me a break. No one has ever even tried Iguodala's behind the backboard dunk, plus his one in the final was better than Nate's.

This is what they need to do. Put up a million fucking dollars. They have enough sponsors, get some major sponsor like Coke or Walmart. Then we'll see who the best dunkers in the world are.

For a million bucks they should have LeBron, Kobe, Vince, T-Mac, and two more and then we'll see what's up. Enough of this lame ass bullshit.

but here's what they should do with the dunk contest. get the fuck rid of it, and everything else that promotes this and1 mixtape type show that they call the nba. it's bad basketball. i think the facts that nba teams lose to european league teams and a college coach heads team usa are clear evidence of this. oh, and the fact that no one gives a shit about the nba anymore. the fact that people like nba players instead of nba teams is the downfall of the nba. /rant.

LeBron admitted to not being a flashy dunker and said he doesn't even know what he's gonna do til he's in the air already. I dunno about you but I liked how VC, Francis, J-Rich, Iguodala, etc. all had decidedly difficult dunks to perform. The last thing I'd want is to see LeBron pull a Tim Perry and leave everyone scratching their heads...

Did anyone see his '03 McD's dunk contest performance? It was better than everyone else and their missed dunks, but he wasn't zOmgAMAzZzING either (see separate entry filed under Parker, Candace). I also think it's good that guys like Fred Jones and Josh Smith got a little time on the map, Jones has kinda plateaued since then but Josh Smith has been a rising star, so to speak.
