you can take them to Lake Johnson in shit if they are outdoors people and you don't mind freezing I would definitely show them campus. Maybe see if ya can get tix to a game of some sort whether it be college hoops or a Canes game. What kinda stuff do your friends like? And if they are coming to visit I would think they would want to stay the weekend not just come one day n leave!

walked around State

ate bbq
ate fresh hot Krispy Kreme donuts
ate Snoopy's hot-dogs
and we went to a Hurricanes game

Eat, shop, have ice cream while walking along downtown Chapel Hill/Carrboro at lunch time, or bars in the evening. (& this area has a museum or art gallery every few steps you take... the mall has 3 art galleries and there are alot in other shopping centers, theres atleast one museum on franklin street, theres ackland art museum on campus ect.)

On your way back maybe walk through southpoint mall and catch a movie there. The part in door part out door mall walk around, fancy dining places there like maggino's, and big movie theater makes the place a fun thing to do once while in the area.

I would go to Umstead if you want to do something outdoorsy. Its less crowded and has more trails.

thanks so much for the great feedback...yeah they are over 21...the bbq is a great idea...so they can compare sweet texas bbq to nc vinger bbq...what's the best place? danny is ok....the museums sound fun...unbelievabiliy i've only been to natural history and museum of art.

but i guess it's always like that...whenever i visit friends in other cities they've never been to the tourist spots in their own towns either lol

Try Clyde Cooper's BBQ downtown. Theyve been in the same spot for something like 80 years.

If you do happen to be in chapel hill late night and are in the mood for bbq, Time-Out is a pretty good place on franklin street that never closes.

This lists some more ideas like A Southern Season in the university mall and Top of the Hill... this list is worth a scroll through.

I don't know if you will be able to get in Duke Chapel...I heard on the news that they are in the process of taking the organ out to have repair work done on it which hasn't been done in like over 50 years or something. So I don't know if they are done with the removal of the organ or if they are going to allow people in while it is MIA! Might wanna check first However if ya do go to Duke's campus and are in the mood for desert there is a great lil place I haven't been there in forever and the name is escaping me atm but it is right next to the bookstore "The Regulators" on the main street Also the lil general store has awesome shakes n floats
