I had unplugged my PC to hit it with some canned air. When I plugged it back in and tried to turn it back on, nothing happened.
I was thinking I had ruined the power supply with some of the liquid the can tends to spray out, but tried to get it to work anyway. I flipped the on/off switch a few times, made sure all the wires were still in place, and still nothing.
For the heck of it, I slid the red voltage switch back and forth and tried the power button again. This did the trick, and it started up.
Why did this work? 2/11/2007 7:03:19 PM |

perhaps you sprayed the high pressured canned air where the voltage switch was and barely nudged out of place so it might have been set to 220v instead of 120. 2/11/2007 7:31:44 PM |

I want to say I could have nudged the thing out of place as I was taking it out of my desk cabinet, but the switch is really hard to move. I had to use a knife to switch it back and forth.
Additional note I forgot to mention: I didn't switch it back and forth, then try the power button. I switched it, then hit the power button, and the system started for a split second. Then I switched it back, hit the power button, and the system turned fully-on. 2/11/2007 8:12:01 PM |
